And your point is? Is your mate not allowed to attend? What do you want? An embargo on him going?

Exactly that. We don't have any big backings. It's not only a small parish but it would be a relatively poor one too. Amazing what people can achieve when they come together.

https://www.thesun.ie/sport/13422570/croke-park-all-ireland-final-tickets-jason-byrne/amp/ I don't know about the 20% I am guessing but I think there are a fair few genuine fans that miss out every year. I would stop allocating tickets through clubs as a lot of club members take tickets who don't care about county matches they only go to club games. The clubs then raffle them off for money. It's makes the GAA seem rotten to its core the way tickets are distributed and how clubs use tickets to get money for their own benefit instead of giving the tickets back so they can go to genuine supporters. What exactly is a "genuine fan"? Just because someone doesn't go to every game, plenty of reasons why they might not be able to, does that make them any less of a fan? A lot of people who trow around lines like that are the likes of Buff Egan etc who think they have a right to get tickets for every game that's played. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1472 - 21/07/2024 11:25:00 2560278 Link 0 |
Someone who makes an effort to attend most games. Yeah there are people who live in England or America that would be big GAA fans who obviously can't go to matches because of the distance but there are a lot of people who won't even travel to home games who live close to their home ground then they get an All Ireland ticket it's a crazy system.

Please tell us how you would distribute them ?

37,500 each to competing counties with those who have attended the most county games given priority. These tickets should be given to the county boards to sell not the clubs who have sought to profit from All Ireland tickets. 5,000 tickets for neutral fans that go on general sale on Ticketmaster. The remaining tickets to volunteers etc.

Club matches are the backbone of the association

Club volunteers then get ????

Yeah that's true but clubs are always trying to profit by raffling tickets etc so they should no longer be involved in distributing tickets.
REDANDBLACK30 (Down) - Posts: 1673 - 21/07/2024 12:48:44 2560288 Link 0 |
Volunteers have always received tickets for matches it's fair enough that a small number of tickets go to volunteers after genuine supporters have got tickets etc depending on demand. Like it would be better if the GAA didn't give tickets to sponsors etc but they will always give tickets to corporate people because the main objective of the GAA is to make money. The principles of the GAA are not the same as when the organisation is founded.

And I see ex GAA Presidents are allocated 700 tickets…. What a waste ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3029 - 21/07/2024 13:05:25 2560293 Link 0 |
Bitter much

Again not true but don't let truth get in the way of your nonsense. Those 700 tickets are for Ard Comhairle, includes ex Presidents, current county chairmen, secretaries, treasurers, administrators, guests, GPA,

Why not put it down as such and not under the heading of ex presidents…? The only nonsense is whoever listed it as such…

So ticket touts buy the 5 thousand tickets on Ticketmaster and flout them at inflated prices and you are questioning clubs who make a profit?. Can't see your idea working

How exactly do you think the GAA would work without money? Every club has a sponsor. Do you have an issue with that? As they're getting money for it. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1472 - 21/07/2024 14:13:41 2560309 Link 0 |
Imo the people who cry about tickets going to the "wrong people" themselves will only be seen at "big games". I used Buff Egan as an example. If he doesn't have a ticket for today, no idea if he does or not, he'll be complaining about others getting them. The 2 Johnnies are his normal target. Whatever you think about them but they play, sponsor and are part of their club committee. Are they not entitled to tickets even though it's likely they won't be able to make a lot of games? oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1472 - 21/07/2024 14:21:05 2560311 Link 0 |
Agree with you, the attendences across the season have been down, maybe the live product os not what ot was. But the people who keep the games alive are the ones who should be rewarded. But thats not how the 'free' market works.
