Leinster has been good competitive stuff bar the one game Kilkenny v Antrim, when Antrim had a few lads starting their 1st game of the year, and rested a few others. Other than that there's been plenty of last minute drama!

The Tipp Limerick wasn't riveting, and I haven't had the chance to watch it yet.

I watched it, I wouldn't recommend you bother, unless you're in a prison cell somewhere looking to kill time, and even then you'd be well advised to think twice

It was a poor game and not worth watching back as a neutral. Tipp gave up very easily. I was surprised at them to be honest. After Caseys injurys the life drained out of it completely.. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1103 - 01/05/2024 14:24:28 2542261 Link 0 |
I agree it definitely wasn't riveting stuff, I'll give you the summary version so you don't have to watch it. First 25 minutes was tit for tat..... level scores, an awful lot of broken play, marginally mistimed tackle's etc from both sides. Not a dirty stoke, some frees. 25 to 35 mins. Limerick start to play a little aided by the increasing breeze. Half time Limerick up by 5 points. Second half first 10 mins tit for tat Tipperary get two scores on the bounce bring it back to 4 points. Aaron Gillane Goal kills the Tipperary revival, brings Limerick back to 7 points ahead and Tipperary heads drop and they pretty much throw the towel in. Peter Casey gets terrible injury while scoring a goal .. a total freak accident... everyone in the crowd knows its a bad one. sucks the life out of both sets of players and crowd for the rest of the game. YOU ARE RIGHT YOUR HOLINESS. BUT Limerick's previous eight games in Munster have all been close encounters

With respect Your HOLINESS we never had a home game even in our very worst days when only 7 or 8 Thousand turned up.

Ye didn't have a Leinster man coming to collect the gate either.

'Recently ACQUIRED lofty perch'. MY FRIEND WE HAVE BEEM CROWING OFF LOFTY PERCHES LONG BEFORE 2018, WINNING All Irelands in Eight different decades and three different centuries.

Watched it again and again. You can never get enough of hammering Tipperary, unless they're Cork or Kilkenny of course!

I don't know why people think you are anti-Leinster hurling or their many great teams when pointing out that it is no way near as competitive to win as the Munster championships. Over the years all Kilkenny had to do was prepare for a Leinster final and on some great occasions Wexford put up to them. Then that got better when provincial finalist moved on to the All-Ireland series and so on to the qualifiers now to where we are today. Galway has made it more competitive but still not as competitive as winning Munster. It just the way it is and not looking down on any team or province. It is called reality. If Dublin,Wexford and Offaly etc. got to a standard of the fourth and fifth team in Munster then it would be a whole different story. Where would a Connaught man collect it?

Canuck yes the Munster Round Robin has got more competitive the last 2 years. But before that it wasn't. The 2022 Waterford and Tipp teams that finished the round robin would've struggled to beat Antrim, then in the Joe Mac, that year. Even Cork didn't put them away til the closing 10 minutes, and they were far better than Tipp and Waterford during that round robin. Clare rested half their team including their best players in the final round robin game and still thrashed a sorry Waterford selection. They struggled to beat an injury ravaged Wexford in the subsequent AIQF. And Tipp were even worse.

CLARE STILL HELD Limerick to level scores twice in normal time in two games and Waterford ran them to 3 points on their home patch, all in 22.

Noone is debating Clares credentials. They have reached the AISF the last 2 years. Canuck reckoned the worst teams in Munster would beat the 3rd place team in Leinster if they came out. I don't believe that to be true in 22.

From what Province have every team been that knocked Kilkenny out of every Championship since 2015 and BTW Waterford did it twice.

For anyone aged under 60, Limerick were also rans as a hurling power throughout their lifetimes, until the 2018-20?? run. For under60s, it feels like a recently acquired lofty perch. You might be an older man......tourman even!!

You're talking up Munster teams for round robin results, while simultaneously knocking Leinster teams for failing to ko KK from the championship since 2015. What Munster teams have knocked Limerick out of the championship since 2018? NONE of them. Pope_Benedict (Galway) - Posts: 3876 - 03/05/2024 22:13:33 2542727 Link 0 |
