No questioning his immense abilities, but it's hard to argue for him to get even a nomination this year. 2019, 2022, and 2023 were phenomenal seasons for him, but think it's another example of the lop-sidedness of the All-Ireland competition that he picked up awards in 2018 and 2021 in Kerry teams that beat nobody. 5 All Stars from 5 Munster titles and an All Ireland. Whilst Murphy picked up 3 from 5 Ulsters and an Ireland... SurelyToGod (Donegal) - Posts: 437 - 14/07/2024 00:08:55 2558856 Link 2 |
Surprised to tell the truth and that is not to take from Armagh. I know they have the ammunition but never seem to fire from all barrels, even today. No, I expected much more from Kerry. It seemed to me that they were just strolling through the gears up until the Derry game, and the way Derry set up allowed me to make an allowance for Kerry's poorness that day. That extra kick, the next gear that I expected them to have doesn't seem to be there. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2095 - 14/07/2024 00:51:02 2558861 Link 0 |

Fantastic turn out by the Armagh support as usual. Loud at times but they really are a superb rock within the GAA. Other counties could look at Armagh and learn what it means to follow your county. How many Kerry folk were at Croker? Very few obviously and shamefully. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9785 - 14/07/2024 02:44:27 2558869 Link 2 |
Kerry should've brought on David Clifford. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 14/07/2024 06:54:02 2558873 Link 0 |
Armagh v Kerry went to form, Kerry have been poor since last years semi. Armagh have taken ulster form to all ireland series and will fancy their chances against either Galway or Donegal. A well deserved win. totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 994 - 14/07/2024 07:35:24 2558878 Link 1 |
What a win. Well done Armagh. Kerry 14 wides. They have a few exceptional players but many average players. It really opens it up further now. Without sounding disrespectful, Galway and Donegal will be thinking big time they can win it out now. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11409 - 14/07/2024 08:31:49 2558882 Link 1 |
Kerry played with such an intensity and aggression from the start that they couldn't maintain and ultimately the better team prevailed. It was a carbon copy of the Clare v Kilkenny hurling S/F where Kilkenny played with ferocious intensity in the first half but couldn't keep it up. gunman (Donegal) - Posts: 1126 - 14/07/2024 09:00:58 2558885 Link 0 |
Punching yourself out is rarely a wise strategy for winning the big ones.

Delighted for McGeeney and Armagh, so many setbacks seemed to be an inevitable feeling it would happen again but the defending and determination was savage. jonno (Kildare) - Posts: 261 - 14/07/2024 13:04:09 2558942 Link 1 |
Two points from play from the much lauded Kerry full forward line, 14 wides in total from Kerry. Clifford again backfiring in the most important game of the season, 1 from play this year and I think 2 from play in the AI final last year. He seems to struggle badly when the heat is on and either snaps at shots or makes poor shot choices. Armagh brought intensity, fight and leadership from halfway through the second half right through to the very end. Kerry brought none of these things and lost midfield completely in ET. Difficult to know where it's gone wrong for them. Possibly not battle hardened enough coming into this game. But Armagh were excellent over the last 40m or so and really rattled Kerry, great physicality, fitness and no shortage and great score taking. Sam could be heading to the Orchard. The GOAT, as he is referred to, defo doesnt deserve an All Star this year imo. I actually think that the Kerry style of play is working against DC. It could well be the case the no Dublin or Kerry player gets or deserves one this year tbh. Both teams have been well below what was expected of them. I think Armagh will take some stopping now. That win over Kerry will have given them such belief and extra confidence going into the final. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3983 - 14/07/2024 14:17:35 2558966 Link 0 |
There were definitely some trying to get soft frees at the end. David did an excellent job. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3983 - 14/07/2024 14:19:52 2558968 Link 0 |
I'm not going to change my mind now. Galway by 2 and to win the ALL Ireland. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9785 - 14/07/2024 15:00:38 2558976 Link 0 |
I think football is a great place in terms of competiveness. There are a number of teams well capable of winning Sam. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13779 - 14/07/2024 15:38:01 2558982 Link 2 |
Donegal by 6-8 points. Final a repeat of D2 final. LimerickForLiam24 (Limerick) - Posts: 144 - 14/07/2024 15:49:24 2558986 Link 0 |
I have nt noticed too many Armagh posters on here but I want to mention their fans.Their fans were brilliant and so sporting.Really friendly at half time and so gracious in defeat.Well done Atmagh! CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3844 - 14/07/2024 15:49:26 2558987 Link 1 |
