Replying To foreveryoung:  "I would agree that usually no team goes all out to win the league, but Clare were into Lohan's fifth season at the helm without any silverware. I think psychologically they needed to win something tangible and targeted the league. And when it happened to be Kilkenny in the final, they really needed to win it...psychological reasons as well.

For the fact that they're going for 6-in-a-row Munster titles, I'd like to see Limerick do it. Other than that, I wouldn't begrudge Clare a title. They are playing a very good brand of hurling these days, have stopped their propensity to fall down and roll around the place (only 2-3 culprits but that is 2-3 too many), and seem to have stopped blaming the referees when they lose. Now as regards the latter, I know certain Clare followers still carry on with that lark, as do fans of every county incl. Limerick, but at least now it is not coming from the mouth of the manager (Glen Ryan in Kildare, please take heed).

When you think about it, all those amazing Cork teams with Lynch and Ring and the Tipperary ones with the Doyles and The Rattler, somehow never quite managed the 6-in-a-row in Munster. Actually, as far as I know, Tipp has never even done 4 Munster titles in a row (please correct me if I am wrong); Cork has done 5 at three different stages: 1901-05, 1975-79, and 1982-86. And that means that the great JBM must have 10 Munster senior hurling medals (and 2 in football)."
Ray Cummins would equal JBM's tally of 12 Munster medals notching 9 hurling and 3 in football!

John and Jimmy Doyle have 10 and 9 Munster hurling medals respectively. Christy Ring managed to get 9 over a long career. Reflection of the dominance of the province by Cork and Tipp !

I'm waiting impatiently for the team hoping that Sean Finn and D O'D will at least be fit enough to make a contribution off the bench. It's likely that the game will probably come down to the last 15 minutes to be decided so the bench impact will likely be decisive.

I'm fully expecting that the Clare puckout will be targeted at Duggan versus Diarmuid Byrnes. I'm a huge fan of Byrnes. He's one of the greatest wing backs of all time but the 2024 form is ropey. If Diarmuid Byrnes can recover his form and play well, it could be a decisive factor in this game. I'd expect that Clare will stay away from Kyle Hayes apart from calling him names.

I'd guess that Limerick will persist with a 2 man full forward line which means that Reidy will start. Cathal O'Neill will definitely start, He's vying with Hegarty as our best player this season. Hegarty is drifting into the full forward line more this year and he's a real problem when he's in there. Shane O'Brien is the most natural player to replace Flanagan inside so I think he'll start but I think that Limerick will be making decisions based on training form so the likes of Aidan O'Connor might make a contribution.

So basically, we need our half back line to play well and we need a kick from the bench. I think we'll get that and I expect to win.

Sunday match is going to be a huge occasion so I don't think John Kiely is going to start any of the younger inexperience players keeping them in reserve to finish the game. You may see the likes of Conor Boylan or Graeme Mulcahy start. I would expect Sean Finn if fit to get the nod over Mike Casey, With Peter Casey and Flanaghan likely to be out Shane O'Brien is best placed to play the inside forward role with Gillane but may be better coming off the bench.

very good.. Laughed when I read that. Hayes has got horrible abuse thrown at him, especially in the Cork match.. His form so far shows he's taking in in his stride.

I wonder does Mul come into the recogning to replace shamie?give it 50 mins and then o brien or o dalaigh for 20/25 mins..hoping seanie and dara are available as they would be huge on a he panel..Clare are a bit like limerick and seem to have a bench that looks very strong..I'll gladly take another one point win and the direct route to croke park..

Certainly hope there is no abuse that's utterly childish all that's over with both of thee teams have a great rivalry and have given us two of the best Munster finals ever so hoping for an epic again I am not that confident this time round I think if limerick lose it wont bother them too much there real prize is AI

Why don't you throw your mobile number and email address up along with your name.. It'll be great Craic getting to know you.

If you compare the two teams on a player versus player basis, the one glaring gap is goalkeeper. The difference in the goalies was a decisive factor in the Ennis game. Nicky Quaid is having an outstanding season.

Another massive factor is scoring efficiency We're unlikely to get as many shots at goal that we got against Waterford so we have to be a lot more efficient. Getting Byrnes into a scoring grove from distance is really important.

The primary reasons why we were behind at half time in Ennis is a combination of wides and frees. Horrible wides and really poor free concessions. Discipline is going to be a major factor on Sunday. Any kind of head high hit will likely result in a red card so guys have to be careful. Gillane and the Bull should run as much as possible at the Clare full back line in the first 20 minutes to force fouls and cards.

Lastly, I want the Mick Mackey cup back in Limerick but I won't be devastated should the unlikely happen. A quarter final against Wexford and a semifinal probably versus KK isn't the worst road to go through in Croke Park. Is this a heresy?

I know that it is a hurling thread, but well done to Limerick footballers; always good to beat Tipp. And always a great year to do the double over them in football and hurling. Onward and upward for the footballers, and hurlers tomorrow.

Delighted with the win today. 14 finals under john kiely and 14 wins ,that consistency and in truth a phenomenal achievement.
SF Will most likely be limerick v winners of (cork / offaly) v dublin.

Unless wexford pull off a win v clare with all due respect to laois who I think will go out to wexford.

If wexford and cork will qf's I think it will be cork v kk and limerick v wexford ,am I reading that right ?
