Yes definitely more in Cork than the last two games, but the question is did they show their peak form when they played us in PUC. Limerick looked to have pushed on to another level since, then the question is have Cork. They will still need to show more to take us down. Cork will have huge motivation for this one and lay it all on the line to beat us but Limerick will have massive motivation too and will have learned a lot from the game in PUC and how to curtail the runners. The starting team will be interesting, i think if Flanagan is fit he starts, that's a no brainer the bigger question is on DOD. Is it a risk to play him with no games under his belt and also who would you drop, Reidy and CON have been fantastic. DOD is not the type of player you spring from the bench, it's a great headache for JK to have. Fitzy01 (Limerick) - Posts: 411 - 24/06/2024 11:14:47 2554331 Link 0 |
Cork have skill and they have pace. That makes them very dangerous. Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 57 - 25/06/2024 09:50:25 2554649 Link 0 |

Ok folks, agreed Cork have pace, very good hurlers, some top class finishers when in space, they have beaten Limerick already this year and their backroom team know how to change things up when it comes to the cauldron of a very tight hurling match. but...Cork would need to reinvent their game plan if they are to beat Limerick AGAIN this year. John Kiely now for the first time since 2018 has massive selection issues. Casey or Finn will be a sub, Kyle will be booed from starts to finish...the more u boo him the more he will punish u. A fit Darragh won't start, Adam will be ur usual impact(3 or 4 points). Cian needs 2 or 3 markers in Croker, Hegarty will bail in with his 4 or 5 points from play. Seamus will hardly get 3 goals again against that sturdy Cork full back line, in fairness the Cork keeper will gain some confidence from his recent training camp with Eimhear. Gillane is just glad he won't be fouled from 1st to 77th like he was in Ennis and Thurles, he'd be hoping to score 1 or 2 free's. Then where do u put the Bull O Brien...be isn't good enough to start an AI semi??? Honestly with all due respect to Pat Ryan and his Cork panel...what happened in Lee side was a credit to his backroom team, the Cork players and the Cork supporters...Limerick rualach (Limerick) - Posts: 28 - 28/06/2024 00:48:04 2555297 Link 0 |
Cork no use in Croke Park. No championship win since 2013. LimerickForLiam24 (Limerick) - Posts: 143 - 28/06/2024 11:11:02 2555350 Link 0 |
Jesus some of the posts on here are very disrespectful to Cork, It's almost like they are made up posts for someone to stick on the dressing room wall to show the cork players.............. I think we should all be worried about Cork. Cork have pace skill and are more than capable of beating. Remember last year and this year there was only a score between us When they get in full flow they are awesome. They should have been way further at half time when we played them in Cork and even though we overturned an eight point deficit, they brought on subs who swung the game back into their favour. They did not have a bench when be beat them in 2018 or 2021 in Croke Park but, they do now. LimerickandProud (Limerick) - Posts: 94 - 28/06/2024 11:50:35 2555360 Link 0 |
I doubt any of the Cork players are on the forum or will read this stuff but agree some of it is over the top. At the top level there is ever only a couple of % in it. MrPBoylan (Monaghan) - Posts: 206 - 28/06/2024 14:56:07 2555411 Link 0 |
He's being booed for a reason though. Hopefully Limerick navigate this match then go on and win the 5.

There was no booing in ennis both matches in the gaelic grounds and in the munster final. They are all playing their hobby in their spare time outside of their workplace.

There are two things going on at our games. Between the lines and what is occurring in the stands. As long as the genuine supporters don't become ambivalent to the behaviour of the undesirable minority we will be fine. Let them know that booing the opposition when taking a free is not acceptable or any type of abuse to players. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2866 - 01/07/2024 00:55:39 2556113 Link 0 |

this is set up nicely for Cork. Looked dead and buried after losing their first two. Then looked like world beaters, and so they know they can perform. But then two mediocre performances v Offaly and Dublin to help them reset mentally and go in with an underdog mentality. Cork will think their pacy forwards set up nicely against our experienced but slower defenders. Hannon and Diarmuid Byrnes were excellent v Clare but exposed against Cork. The likes of Casey and Morrissey are excellent defenders but not the quickest. Bookies have Cork at 3/1 which are fantastic odds I think given how close this game will be. But Cork will know they have to be at their best, and even better to beat Limerick Yadse (Limerick) - Posts: 57 - 01/07/2024 16:55:14 2556327 Link 0 |
Well Cork will fully believe they will win, they always carry that belief no matter what, we can have every confidence in our team without being considered cocky or losing the run of ourselves. Unless we have an off day, it will take more than Cork have shown to date to take us down imo. Their forwards have definitely proven they are more than capable of putting up big scores against us but they have never played to the level so far that Limerick have hit in the last couple of years. No matter what its going to be great, Cork will bring the crowd and the noise as will Limerick and booing KH aside, there is generally always good banter and a laugh between the Cork and Limerick supporters. The Cork crowd at PUC also booed Cian Lynch in the league last year on making his comeback from injury after a long layoff and also one of the Dublin footballers the week later who was starting back again after injury (not sure who but perhaps Mannion or Jack Mc). Their good banter isn't nearly as good these days when the shoe is on the other foot and Cork are All-Ireland-less for a full generation. The biggest county in your country, with all those clubs, without Sam for 14 years (not so alarming in the county as it is 'only' football) and without Liam for 19 (Status 5 Red Alert Warning) is a shocking situation when you think about it but cannot be used to excuse bad sportsmanship and booing.
