Longford or Mullingar. Carrick getting a new playing surface and won't be an option.

They'll have to move their home Tailteann game so. Ballinamore I presume. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1950 - 03/05/2024 10:06:23 2542591 Link 0 |
Any word on venues for 3rd round of Tailteann cup? Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 513 - 22/05/2024 10:03:50 2546310 Link 0 |
Doesn't seem to be. The All-Ireland Round 2 throw-in times aren't confirmed yet either. Funny that the All-Ireland draw was made early for logistics but the exact fixture details can be confirmed in a week. The preliminary quarter-finals will only have a weeks notice!

Its crazy that still venues, days and times not confirmed for games next weekend, not only just for supporters but for teams themselves in terms of logistics. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1142 - 22/05/2024 20:55:05 2546491 Link 1 |

Mayo v Dublin will NOT be in Croke Park. Galway v Armagh had a crowd of 6 or 7k at their match in Carrick last year. These are GROUP games which are only attended by the regular followers. The big day fans, casual fans and bandwagon fans don't go to these. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1950 - 24/05/2024 10:27:55 2546759 Link 0 |
There were reports yesterday that Mayo have requested that the game is outside of Croke Park and they were told that there are no plans to hold any neutral games in Croke Park.

No only fools go to these meaningless matches that offer no jeopardy….

Sounds as if it came from their "Dublin Joe" playbook. Kildare psyched them out brilliantly with "Newbridge or nowhere" so they must think it might have similar impact on Dublin :-) Despite the fact that there has never been, is not, nor will there be any plans to have Dublin and Mayo play in Croke Park in round three. As they well knew already. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 24/05/2024 12:12:34 2546795 Link 1 |
Or people who want to see a game of football. Sure many league matches have no jeopardy, club matches etc. Is everyone who attends those a fool, or are they possibly people who enjoy getting out to a game and seeing their team play? I do think it should be 2 from 4 in the group stage, but I'll still attend our games, along with some other 'fools'. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2187 - 24/05/2024 12:13:48 2546797 Link 2 |
At least in League matches there's points to play for that could lead to promotion or relegation in almost all the matches hence the crowds are better in the league than they are for these meaningless championship games… The Championship was always meant to be played as a knockout competition but the GAA big wigs changed this in order to squeeze more money out of the supporters but this has spectacularly backfired and their greed has driven a generation of people away from the game… that's a shame on them..!!!

The only reason the round robin matches don't attract a crowd is that the system is designed to give the likea of Cavan more games against higher quality opposition. Sounds like Cavan would be happier taking their annual beating in Ulster and staying home to save money tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1197 - 28/05/2024 21:27:56 2548042 Link 1 |
As opposed to Mayo spending well over a million euro each year to fill the togs at the semi final or final stages… Makes great sense

Below is a fair way to spread the championship around the country tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1197 - 02/06/2024 06:27:01 2548806 Link 0 |
Will Hyde hold the crowd? Its not winner take all but a lot still riding on topping the group and going straight to a quarter final. You would imagine that attract more than 20k? Perhaps not. Once it caters for the genuine supporters on both sides, fair enough. Be great atmosphere all the same. Looking forward to that one I have to see in contrast to any football so far. None of the group games so far have reached a 10k attendance

If 8,000 Dubs,go to see Cavan you can be sure that the two biggest crowd pullers of last 15 years will fill Hyde and with leftovers.
