Seems very unfair if that's the case though? Why not Hyde Park so in that instance Tullamore and Portloaise are actual neutral venues which are an equal distance from both and neither are overly familiar with PressureKick (UK) - Posts: 240 - 05/06/2023 12:01:47 2484147 Link 0 |
Don't be surprised to see Galway vs Armagh and Roscommon Vs Kildare as double header in Croke Park

Fergal Logan was interviewed and said there is talk of Beffni, Newry or Carrick on Shannon for the Tyrone vs a Westmeath game. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2092 - 05/06/2023 12:26:45 2484153 Link 0 |
Cavan is the perfect venue but it's also the perfect venue for Galway/Armagh which will need to be on at the same time.

I wouldn't think Brefnni Park is a great venue for Galway fans to travel to. Dublin would be more direct and safer to travel on? ref (Galway) - Posts: 252 - 06/06/2023 07:21:13 2484257 Link 0 |
100% agreed, but I don't think Croke Park should be the venue during the group stages either. Croker should be kept for Q-finals onwards. Maybe the flip for Clones or The Hyde? LetsPlayBall (Galway) - Posts: 64 - 06/06/2023 12:43:37 2484375 Link 0 |
Should quarter-finals be in Croke Park? The Tailteann group winners will host Tailteann quarter-finals. Clones, Croke Park, Thurles, PUC, Killarney, Limerick, Galway and Castlebar are probably the list of stadia that can host All-Ireland quarter-finals. Group winners could have the carrot of home advantage or choice of venue. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8282 - 06/06/2023 17:27:21 2484515 Link 0 |
The 4 Provincial winners could have three home games as a reward for winning their Provincial championship, the runners up getting 2 home games, 3rd seed teams get 1 home game and 4th seeds playing all their game's away from home. The team that then tops the group has home advantage for a quarter final or they can nominate a venue of their choice.

At least HQ had the common sense not to use Croke Park for any of the round 3 games. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3909 - 06/06/2023 18:58:53 2484538 Link 0 |

Donegal v monaghan in omagh at 6 on a Saturday, a complete bottleneck, nightmare to get in and out of, why not breffni Park or brewster Park? totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 994 - 06/06/2023 21:44:41 2484568 Link 0 |

I think most observers will say Carrick on Shannon for Armagh v Galway is simply a poor choice, 9,000 capacity for a fixture that pulled in over 50,000 last yr cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1685 - 07/06/2023 10:37:20 2484671 Link 0 |
Teams could earn the extra home game through their performances in round 1 and round 2. Galway and Tyrone having home advantage in Round 3 for example.

Big difference between a Quarter Final and a Group game to decide 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
