Replying To BarneyGrant:  "That's mad if true. No doubt there is some other "cultural" even that they have booked for the rest of August."
Correction, it's now said in the event of a draw a replay will take place possibly Aug. 05th, apologies if that is so.

Replying To baire:  ""On a historical note, Wexford have more All Irelands than yourselves". What's your point?
It's not that either county has a dozen or more AIs! How can you compare their fortunes considering the lop-sidedness of the provincial system historically? If it's games that help teams to develop, Wexford had a clear advantage in Leinster, playing KK, Dublin, Offaly or Laois whilst Galway had no such luxury in Connacht.
Why don't you compare like with like? Compare their success rate since 2009 for instance.
Anyway today is about Limerick and KK, the two best teams in Ireland. I hope it's an exciting game and that hurling is the winner!"
We havent had a great team since 2009 while you have had your best team since the late 80s. Counties like ours Baire don't have good teams the whole time. That's why neither of us are in any big 3 or big 5.

It's Kilkennys All Ireland to loose the only thing that will beat them is theirselves. I have Kilkenny at 11/5 to win....come on the Cats!!

Replying To baire:  "Apart from the 90s and Wexford's 2 in the 50s and 60s KK have totally dominated Leinster hurling throughout its history. The highest population is in the pale and until recently most of them had barely heard of such a 'barbaric game'. It was hurling folk from Munster, KK and Galway who played and promoted the game in Dublin. Unfortunately some of the most skilful Dublin born players in recent times opted for football instead of hurling."
You know nothing.

Hurling was definitely the winner today. Fine match. Awesome performance by Limerick.

So that brings to an end the Hurling championship. Thanks to everyone for making score keeping easy and sending in the predictions per my strict guidelines :-D. Disappointing to see that the mods has let the thread be totally highjacked by a few regular posters who didn't even submit predictions but I guess thats the nature of the forum.

Congrats to Limerick on an outstanding season. I thought this would be their most comprehensive and easiest AI at the start of the year and despite a slightly rockier start than normal they clicked into gear in the AI series with two big wins. What an awesome team. Just a complete side with different players showing up all season and within games too such as Casey and Byrnes yesterday being out of the game for 25-40 mins only to take over completely after. Incredible achievement and will be hard stopped next year too.

Leaderboard finished up as per below which includes the 1 point for the match prediction yesterday and the 3 points for the pre-championship All Ireland winners. The final finished with a score of 51 points (total) so after a poor year for Tipp I'm happy to say we finished on the top for something this year! Doyler and Trump very unlucky to lose out and maybe just lost due to understandable loyalty to their own counties.

My initial response was to 'wicklowsupport' who bemoaned the fact that the final was contested by a small amount of counties and that no other Leinster team, apart from KK contested an ALL Ireland since 1998 although most of the population live in Leinster.
I was referring to AIFs in my response to him, not Leinster finals, which I admit wasn't clear in my contribution. What I meant in my response was that KK were the by far the most dominant Leinster team since 1921 - they have played and won most of the AIs contested by a Leinster team.
Then for some unexplained reason Barney remarked that Wexford had won more AIs than Galway!
When it comes to winning AIs in hurling neither Dublin, Galway nor Wexford have anything to crow about!

If we look at the Liam MacCarthy winners since the foundation of the state in 1921, the year the MacCarthy cup was first introduced, these are the dates each county has won according to your google!
The Old MacCarthy;
Dublin: 1924, 1927, 1938 (3)

Galway: 1923, 1980, 1987, 1988
New MacCarthy: 2017 (5)

Wexford: 1955, 1956, 1960, 1968
New MacCarthy: 1996 (5)

You can read whatever you like into those figures but the sad fact is that two of the strongest hurling counties historically, Galway and Wexford, have only won 10 AIs between them since 1921. The other negative re hurling is that the GAA has always given priority to football in the capital.
The positives re hurling in Galway is that more clubs from Galway have won an All Ireland than any other county. I have been lucky in my life time to have seen 7 Galway clubs win club AIs and to have seen the county team win 4 of the 5 AIs. I have seen Wexford win 2 AIFs and I have seen Dublin win too many in the football but none in the hurling!

Good comp, thank you for running.
Had to gamble on the All-Ireland to try get up the table. Wasn't to be, what would a Dub know about hurling anyway!

That was a great day Viking and I was delighted for ye.
There were many in Galway too who only saw their team win 1 AIF and many others unfortunately who weren't alive to see it.

In typical Wexford fashion I collapsed late on.
