With SAM well rested since last July, another season commences. Monaghan away on Sunday will be difficult. A lot of changes since last July. David Moran gone and the Cliffords unavailable for obvious reasons. Time for players to put their hand up. Jack L (None) - Posts: 3141 - 27/01/2023 12:11:09 2454532 Link 0 |
I think that the fact that we will be down ten or so starters is a blessing not a curse. If Kerry are to defend Sam then we need fringe players to step up. Depending where Paudie is playing come championship, the two corner forward spots are up for grabs. Killian Spillane, Tony Brosnan, Dara Roche and Donal O Sullivan fighting for a starting berth with Paul Geaney in the mix too. I thought you were playing Donegal.

Looking forward to the Donegal game. With David Moran retiring Kerry s midfield will be a big factor. Jack Barry probably has one slot and the main contenders for the other slot would be Diarmuid Ó Connor and Joe Ó Connor. Alas Joe is out for the year with cruciate and Diarmuid out for a couple of months with his ankle so it gives other players a chance to shine. With the Cliffords resting it gives the other forwards a better chance to shine too. Likewise with Donegal with Michael Murphy gone the other forwards have to step up now. My hopes for Kerry this year are to remain in div 1 and hopefully be fully on song for the championship. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3846 - 27/01/2023 14:36:28 2454585 Link 0 |
Looking forward to seeing Barry O Sullivan is a long term option midfield. Great club player and was a good minor back in the day KerrymanStuckInDonegal (Kerry) - Posts: 269 - 28/01/2023 15:56:09 2454763 Link 0 |
Obviously not putting everything into league. Jack L (None) - Posts: 3141 - 29/01/2023 16:08:29 2454969 Link 0 |
Why was JOC so annoyed with the ref? SimonstownBack (Meath) - Posts: 161 - 29/01/2023 17:56:07 2455020 Link 0 |
Maybe the fact they were beaten..doesn't like to lose any match ..Kerry didn't have possibly 10 or more starters missing. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2394 - 29/01/2023 19:46:52 2455081 Link 1 |
Donegal were given a point that was wide

A lot of public chat about how many Kerry had missing and I get that, no doubt about the calibre of player missing whatsoever. But for balance, we had no Ryan McHugh, Peader Mogan, Michael Langan, Ciaran Thompson, Eoin Ban Gallagher, Shane or Niall O'Donnell, Odhran McFadden Ferry. That's 7/8 nailed on starters. Throw in Oisin Gallen and we were very uncertain how today would go. Delighted with the response but it's only one game.

Lads I'm far from a Kerry supporter.im just saying what commentary will be.i know donegal we're missing a lot to..i was surprised with the way joc approached ref after the game..I wonder will he be included on match report??especially when on first weekend, looked like everything was being done completely to the rule book.. Reckons one of Donegal points was wide .... forgetting that one of Kerry's was too, but maybe like Mr Wenger he didn't see it!

Two wides called as points, one for each side, into same goal. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3186 - 30/01/2023 11:07:18 2455204 Link 2 |

Jack O'Connor??? That's a slippery slope he's embarking on, you simply can't go on mouthing to match officials. No 1, it will not change the result or the decision. No 2, Eventually ALL officials will become aware of your antics and 59/50 decisions may not go with you and No 3, most important of all you are NOT concentrating on your management duties when you are over fixated with the match officials. Believe me we have seen it happen here. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 1080 - 30/01/2023 11:41:47 2455223 Link 0 |
A few starters showed yesterday that they are not good enough to make the starting 15. aidan64 (Kerry) - Posts: 668 - 30/01/2023 11:51:17 2455228 Link 1 |
"A few starters showed yesterday that they are not good enough to make the starting 15." I agree with this observation as five of the six forwards and one centrefielder were potential subs and none on this one display made a case for a starting role. Kerry have good forwards to call upon but I think their weakest link this year will be midfield and all teams will exploit this weakness.
