Replying To tearintom:  "Much much improved today, just a pity we didn't see out the win.

Hopefully injuries aren't too bad."
Think Matt could be out for a long time unfortunately. Hopefully everyone else will be back for Salthill.

Replying To Past hurler:  "Hearne covered some ground though in fairness.

He was up and down that wing non stop all match, his gps stats would bf high.

As you said his shooting needs tidying up."
He played well. Like Mcguckin shooting needs to be better. I wonder do they practice shooting when their blood oxygen levels are lower? Like do a couple laps of the pitch fairly hard then practice catching and shooting on the run straight away. Wides killed us in both games. And balls dropped short.

Both McGuckian and Hearne worked very hard but some of those misses from both of them were free shots on goal..at this level 9/10 of those need to be going over. Anyway shot conversion has been a problem going back a very long time! Think Hearne could do with filling out a bit still but plenty of go in him to be fair.

Found it an enjoyable match, thoughtful play, no panicking. Good passing and showed determination. Shooting was hit and miss at times. Stand outs for me were Corey Byrne Dunbar, Oisin Pepper and Cian Byrne. Luke Murphy has some speed as well.

Thought both midfielders played well Murphy and Carley. Didn't think Pepper got on too much ball tbh. Cian Byrne improved after a slow start. Back 6 were all pretty good. Altogether a very positive performance even the Cork lads around me thought so too.

Matt o Hanlon looked in serious trouble with his knee.

He was my man of the match today,

Does Darby Purcell if the Harriers not get his place on this team?

I always rated him as a good hurler.

He came on as a sub in the second half

Could be wrong but I taught his ankle was injured rather than his knee.

Am I the only one who thought Cork's first goal was a clear square ball? Or have they changed the square ball rule? My understanding was that you couldn't be in the square before the ball. But if he's touching the ball halfway inside the square and the ball moves faster than him, there's no way the ball could have been in the square before him

Given Cian Byrne was number 17, I wonder was he an injury worry. 6pts out of the 16 is a good tally

How did Eoin Whelan go at full back lads? Impressed with the minors a couple of years ago, big man which is obviously no harm.

Can I ask what is the rule for goal scoring situation and been fouled. Mogie was through on goal in the first half and was blatently fouled. Yer man was yellow carded but my question is what is the rule or has that rule been thrown out

Is cian molloy of gorey with the under 20?were they missing any one yesterday?in the senior game what was very obvious is the importance of having Chin and O Hanlon back

I was thinking that too . Blatant black card if so. I hate giving about about officials but thought the referee gave us very little yesterday

Really hoping Matt is okay and it was just a twisted ankle with no ligament damage . He was outstanding yesterday and is a leader for us at the back. Presuming he is fit for Galway is keeping him at full back and moving Jippo to 7 an option for us. Could give Jippo a new lease of life too.

Cian Molloy is overage this year.

I'm another who was wondering about that. In my view, it was the very definition of a black card offence - a deliberate foul to prevent a goal-scoring opportunity.

The rule is still on the books all right, but it seems it's only very rarely implemented. Having said that, there was a black card in Limerick v Westmeath yesterday for an offence I thought was far less clearcut than the Mogie incident.

Overall, I'm generally reluctant to criticise referees, but I really do think we got short shrift more than once yesterday. Even when he chose to blow the final whistle grated a bit. Okay, there was roughly 5:30 of additional time gone, but the signal had been for at least five minutes, and there'd been about 90 seconds to two minutes of stoppages in that first five.

Even if the Cork shot had dropped wide and the whistle blew on the puck-out would have been bad enough, but considering Lawlor collected the ball, soloed out a bit, and then launched it up the field - all in the same passage of play - I thought it was bit rich to blow the whistle as the ball soared in towards our forwards.

Down the decades, as in all the way back to the Sixties, I have noticed that if one the big three is playing and the ref is from another one of them he will give anything that is going to the other 'Landlord Team'. So I was not surprised that Cork got anything that was going yesterday. Only once in all years did a Cork Referee in all the games they refeed, when we were playing Tipp, give us a break and that was Joe O'Leary in '96.
