Strong team named for this time of year. Strong bench also. Looking forward to tomorrow night now hopefully the weather's not too bad.

I know this has already been mentioned but to pay €12 to watch a O'Byrne Cup match is scandalous, same with Walsh Cup. I think ppl pay enough during the year, If it was like €5 you might entice the causal viewer but I can imagine very few will pay €12!!.

Agreed although there is a 40 Eur pass which covers single O'Byrne and Walsh Cup game played in the month, Wexford have at least 5 guaranteed games between the 2 competitions.

It was a tenner when it was on in Taghmon. And Piercestown. Why has it gone up? Are kids still free?

Lads that's some traffic jam in the field! I don't think we were 10 onto worse than them. If the goal chance had of gone under the bar rather than over we might have made it closer in the final 10 minutes. We were half yard slower than them to close lads down and break into space as might of been expected considering the difference in League position but the lads fought hard. Also on their kickouts we mightve been better marking the space they were running into rather than following them out to the sidelines 2 or 3 steps behind. All in all encouraging though.

Was in at the game last night, early days but thought we struggled apart from the first 20 mins and got a bit of a purple patch in the game around the hour mark.

Our full back line struggled, particularly in both corners, Jim Rossiter just hasn't been the same since his cruciate injuries and he was flying up until then, he had a tough night.

I thought Furlong at centre back was going well until he came off presumably with injury, up front o Grady was good, particularly in the first half whilst rossiter was ok. Looking at the younger players Liam Doyle started midfield and was good in the first 20mins or so picking out some lovely passes whilst the likes of Cush and Kinsella held their own.

Overall the game was a workout really against a team much much further down the line than us and to be honest it was evident, their corner forward on the night Robinson was a class apart.

Great crowd at the game also which I don't think would have been the case had it been in taghmon or piercestown so one wonders why they were down to play there in the first place.

I think there would've been a good crowd in Taghmon. Alot of lads were looking forward to it but don't like Patrick's Park me included. And there were a good few on the team from Ross District and Town teams.

Never understand people parking in the showgrounds beside it, usually park 5-10 mins away or so when there's a good crowd or park in the boxing club car park if its a club game with a smaller crowd although I seen that blocked off walking in last night. Didn't see the new 1 way system in action as yet after the match.

Fair points overall, Kildare full forward line probably the 3 best players on the pitch, Furlong had ice on his leg so its an injury alright. Obviously can't read into pre season competitions much but Rossiter getting 9 of 11 points would be a concern, even looking at the full panel released 1 thing that jumped out to me was we could be relying on him during the year for scores, on the crowd I think split season will grow people's apatite for games contrary to the likes on Spillane, Anthony Daly and Donal Og, I never like comparing GAA to professional sport but American Football season is ran September to January basically with Super Bowl 1st weekend of February and that doesn't suffer at all.

Enjoy listening to Dalys podcast but whenever he gives out about the split season despite nearly every player (the ones that really matter really enjoying it) it reeks of self service. Complains of game being out of shop window for so much of the year....I think it's more tha he's out of the shop window for a lot of the year. Doesn't seem to realize that there's still games on and the other 99% of players are getting games at fixed times now. Feel too many of the pundits are missing being centre stage for longer stretches of the year, maybe if I was loosing out on money for the extra articles/review shows/analysis gigs I'd be against it too!!!
