Replying To eoinog:  "Good win but it doesn't change much. All you have succeeded in doing is poking the bear. The new system really means nothing because Kerry will still qualify and you could meet them again in a few weeks. Not your fault"
Getting into the last 8 as group winners means plenty especially for All Ireland contender. Two weeks between each game is ideal situation to have. Kerry are going to finish 2nd in the group now and to use this quote from Jack O'Connor before the Mayo game to highlight the issues of that.

"you are out in a preliminary quarter-final, and the quarter-final itself, so that is three weeks in a row, that's tough going. The ideal gap between games is two weeks because it gives you a chance to recover and build up again whereas if you are out three weeks in a row the chances of injures are increased,"

Should be a tough game today, Louth are a good side and be interesting to see what Mayo do with there goalkeeper coming up the field.
There is usually changes to the line up so no point looking into the named team to closely but there shouldnt be any change to the full forward line so hopefully they keep up there good form, O Shea with the right ball going into him is being a handful for opposition, Carr is working more than any other year and he is getting good scores. O Donoghue is very good could possibly be Mayos most important forward.
Eoghan McLoughlin very unlucky with the injury, was hoping the Kerry game would have given him a great boost and confidence, for me he wouldnt be a starter if everyone is fit, good option from the the bench. At least with a hand injury he can keep the fitness up.

So the division 1 Connacht teams win again with Mayo and Galway maintaining 100% record in round robin. I see bookies have made Mayo 2nd favs now for SAM. What's the story with McHale Park pitch, the surface looked bad today?

Heads should roll over the state of the new pitch. Clubs will again be locked out of MacHale Park this year despite us paying the debt off. Disgraceful.

On the game. It was an awful watch. Got the two points but that's all you can say about it. At least on a positive that's the last home game this year.

We seriously need to figure out how to break down these defensive teams. In my opinion when we up by 4 points we should have pulled a Roscommom and just played around with the ball. I know it's not great football to watch but Louth had their 15 back inside their 45 before we took the kickout for most of the game. When we get a lead we need to force the other team to out of their shell, force them to come out the field.
We also need to take our goal chances when we get them, again yesterday a number of chances went abegging.

Give Mickey Harte his due. He has turned Louth football around. Cork and Mayo should be an interesting game, obviously Mayo should win, but Cork are slowly but surely coming back, and could be an upset here?

Cork could easily beat Mayo and head the group!
Mayo forwards are poor: by the 20th minute the starting forwards had scored 3 points from play; for the remainder of the game only 1 forward (sub Fionn McDonagh) scored from play; and AOS was back to his 'no score from play' mode. At home against Louth!

Paddy Durcan came on in the half forward line and scored.

Ha sour grapes much .. if that makes our forwards poor how poor ae kerry since we beat you? Should have been more to .. get over yourself!

We've one of the best forwards team in the country . Any team would have struggled against a blanket defence like loyths in a 25 degrees heat!

Let's see how the 'mighty' kerry do against louth next.. average bar the Clifford's as joe brolly says to don't know where sam will go but certainly won't be to kerry...

The infatuation with AOS and the abuse he attracts, usually from Dublin supporters just baffles me.

He had a great league, MOTM against Kerry but this is the payer singled out here, - pathetic

That was round robin.

Will Mayo beat Kerry or Dublin in an All Ireland final when it counts in Croke Park?

I think everyone on the Hoganstand forum knows the answer to that one.

Brolly is like us all. We all have opinions. Does nt mean he is right or wrong but I'd take some posters here more seriously than Brolly. I don't think Kerry will win Sam either but not because Brolly said it. You seem to take Brolly s words as gospel. Well one of his most common statements was "Mayo will never win an All Ireland with Aidan Ó Shea".

I think Aidan Ó Shea is a fine footballer and gas had some brilliant games for Mayo especially against us but tbf he has never played well against Dublin and everytime he saw the Dublin jersey he seemed more interested in getting Dubs riled up rather than playing football so did nt endear himself to the fans.

No problem beating the dour defensive teams like Louth and Galway anyway, but need to score more against the top teams.
