You can choose to ignore at any time. The forum has been dying and people leaving long before I came back. It was practically dead at the turn of the year anyway. Start adding more yourself if you think you're so good. And don't call people clowns, it's a forum for debate. You don't have to like or agree with everyone

The up coming Final with Westmeath is no doubt our most important game since the 2020 Ulster Final… It should be a great occasion and if Armagh and Derry meet in that days semifinal there will be a huge crowd in Croke park….. A win would round off what was a routine season for Cavan with nearly all our results very predictable ( aside from loosing at home to Tipperary ) and would boost our confidence ahead of next year's Division 3 campaign….

the most important game since the Ulster final was the 2020 ALL-IRELAND semi-final V Dublin.
I would think the next important match was the 2021 Jlster Championship match v Tyrone, the next important match after that was this year's first round of Ulster v Antrim and then The Ulster semi v Donegal. Arguably the league games in 2021 and 2022 were also more important. It would have been important to beat Wicklow and not get relegated to Div 4. It was also important to get promoted from Div 4 this year. Even this years Tailteann cup games were important. If we had lost to Down our season was over, same against Fermanagh and if Sligo had beaten us we wouldn't be in the final. So the game against Westmeath is the most important game since the semi-final against Sligo.

Obviously all games are important but this is a Final after all…. The semi final v Dublin was a free hit and a tap in for Dublin before the ball was thrown in so I wouldn't put it down as very important as we had no hope…, this is the big game to show where we are….!

Despite all the talk of modern day tactics the old ploy of the high ball into the square still works.

It sure does and always will….. Despite all the coaching , tactics, clipboards and stats men when a team have their backs to the wall and facing defeat they all revert to the good old "big high ball in"… These so called tactical geniuses make me laugh…!

Why you have nowadays in a lot of counties is ex basketball and athletic and even boxing coaches involved with teams and it shows.
Teams now are starting to leave forwards as forwards. Dublin kept 2/3 forwards inside the 20m line against Cork.
Backs can't cope with the high holy Mary into the square because they not use to it.
Even our full back is more interested in scoring than defending.
Derry will destroy Galway if they kick ball in like Armagh did in the last 10 minutes.
Rory Gallagher will be right on to that ploy.

3 mis hit balls, a soccer goalie making a hames of all 3, and here's the lads talking about it like it was a tactical masterclass. By god...

By the way I see you've posted since this, are you going to apologise for calling me a clown, seeing as you got this one badly wrong?

What game were you watching i did not see three mis hit ball. I seen three high balls sent into the danger area where there was a chance that they might create a goal chance from the panic that followed which is what happened for all three goals. The fact that none of the so called specialist coaches that are now in place will never use it as it might make them redundant does not mean it is not a great tactic when your back is to the wall.

Just proves it doesn't need to be a tactical masterclass as you pointed out….. simple stuff.. 2 miss hit high balls into our goalmouth and we were all over the shop…. sometimes the simple answer is the right answer….!!!!!

Nobody said it was a tactical masterclass. But it sure beats zone defending and players marking space. No point in playing it across the back 4 when you need scores.
Route 1 football the way forward.

On the lottery of a silly penalty shootout which they would never have got to without sending in those high balls…. Your coaching philosophy would be to keep ball , take no risks and be content with a 6 point defeat…. Your supporters would no doubt be delighted with you…!!!

They didn't win mate. The teams who have been playing with a plan and tactics have been the ones winning the vast bulk of the games. How many games have been won with high balls in, and how many haven't? I can only think of the Cavan Donegal game. Your theory ain't stacking up, and laughable you think so

Ye were both talking up there like it was some amazing transformation or something, like it's the new way. It was one game, and they still lost. They were 6 points worse off only for the flukey goals. Vast bulk of the games have not been won this way, the teams with plans and good tactics are winning. You boys are hilarious. Do you actually watch football?

Penalties aren't a lottery, give over all the clichés
