They're going backwards if that's the case. Going to get relegated to Div 3. Have only won one game in the league. Lost every game since. Caulry beat them with a very under strength team and a lot of young players too. Killucan won't stay in Section A.

Killucan never do well in the League due to hurling county commitments. They will be fine when the summer comes around.

A big say this year will be which clubs have beat the emigration bug. The Downs, Athlone, Garrycastle, Moate and few others have lost many players since last years championship. Lomans seem to have kept all their big players they are my favorites to win back the crown.

Dont read too much into league form. Killucan and the Pass will be different animals come championship but I do agree Caulry are the real dark horses. Any odds for Caulry?

Lomans definitely favourites as always. Caulry only lost one so far and don't think anyone else is away or going.
Hurling Club committments would play a part too with a lot of dual players. Huge game first up for all Section A teams.

I know dates are depending on Westmeath inter county; but surely the county board could release the rest of the championship fixture?

Club championship Hurling will play a part too for Killucan.
Caulry don't have any dual players in their squad

No odds up yet. Would have Caulry at least 20/1. If they get to a Q/F for third year in a row and repeat the performance against Downs last year nobody would want to meet them

I'd take that. They were 50/1 last year. Very short odds on Killucan.

Caulry to win the SFC? No matter what odds that's throwing money away. They're not likely to get promotion from div 2 in the league and while they don't have the likes of Maguire, Baker and McCormack for most league matches they'd need to be winning their fair share of div 2 league matches to show they have strength in depth. Contrast that with Loman's who have been missing far more players and are top of div 1. Caulry have made decent progress but winning Flanagan cup is a stretch.

Agree on all Claretandblue. Not saying they'll win it. Small club making steady progress as you said. Worth a €20 punt though not by me as I enjoy keeping my beer money :)

Won't get promoted. Athlone and Milltownpass will go up. They lost first 3 league games but are unbeaten since. Lots of young players coming through and with missing likes of Slater, Connolly, Nally and Fox they've done well. They r a long way from the dynasty of Lomans and what that brings to a club. They are a machine

Q/F for Caulry again would be minimum. Getting to semi would be huge and no one would want to meet them

With one round of league games left:

Division 1:

Lomans and Kinnegad through to league final.

Tyrrellspass, Garrycastle, Moate, Tang and Shandonagh all fighting it out to stay up. Castledaly have been relegated.

Division 2:

Athlone through to league final with it looks like Miltownpass.

Ballynacargy and Killucan are relegated.

Garrycastle relegated from div 3 with no points gained, in Div 1 they're in a relegation battle and could be in div 2 next year. Alex Gardiner is obviously a huge loss and they're missing other forwards through different commitments, underage in the club best described as reasonable based on divisions they're in, are they the senior side most likely to face a spell at Intermediate level shortly? The Likes of John Gaffey, Doran Harte, James Dolan have lot of mileage on clock and still considered senior starters.

Are Garrycastle still fielding on their own at underage or have they linked up at some age grades ? What sort of catchment area do they have ? I know they are on the edge of Athlone town but how far out is their catchment area to say Caulry and Castledaly ? The 3 lads you have mentioned have been top class for club and county and very difficult to replace.

It's hard to replace players like those but I'm sure they have good underage coming up

Caulry come right up to the edge of the town. Many of Garrycastle's best players down the years are from Coosan. They don't have the underage numbers that Athlone or Caulry have. But they still won u15 division 1 last year.

Paddy Dowdall having the desired impact for St. Lomans so far obviously, considering the same team avoided relegation on the last day last season. Now they're unbeaten. They won't be far off this year.

I see they had 5 or 6 players on county U16's this year too so maybe they are holding their own. When you think about their 8 senior titles between 2001 and 2019 (plus a Leinster in 2011) that type of success is very hard to sustain. I don't see them getting relegated anytime soon but it could be tricky to get into the knockout stages this year given Athlone and Mullingar Shamrocks seem to be on the up.

Shandonagh
Garrycastle
Mullingar Shamrocks
Tang
Athlone
Moate All Whites
