I agree totally with you, but the Count managers have too much power, the Co Board should instruct the manager if a player is not required for co game, then he should be allowed play for the club.

It's bananas to stop players from playing and staying sharp. Other sports which are 100% professional will release the unused wider squad players back to their clubs routinely - soccer and rugby national teams are the obvious examples.

I don't buy the injury argument either. If you're not in the 26-man panel on the match day, it's of little impact if a player picks up an injury with the club. They would likely be the 3rd choice in their position or even 4th.

Surely staying fit and playing is better than sitting in the stand in your tracksuit after doing a few warmup drills. Even 30 minutes of game time is superior.

Mike McGurn who is an expert in this field agrees strongly with you. Cliffords playing their 29th games of the year and benefiting as each match worth 3 training sessions. County boards nationwide need to stand up to managers. They are the employees after all.

100% agree but that would mean a manager relinquishing some of his "power" and most won't do that.

Any word of a county panel yet or any potential call ups? There were trials taking place and U20 trials due tomorrow. 7 or 8 of last years U20s still in age, not sure how many U19s are good enough as they had quite a weak age group at minor. Brian Cooney was the stand-out from what I recall.

So any more updates on managerial appointments ?
Lots of rumours alright but I don't see too many clubs confirming names.
Interesting to see Luke Demspey and Damien Gavin named at Killoe. Don't think Gavin teamed up with Luke before on a club coaching ticket but I could be wrong. Thought Luke left Kells to take time out and travel ??
Pat Flanagan gone from Pearses in Roscommon after a very decent spell there and no doubt will be in demand after missing out on county job there.
Is Dowdall confirmed at Lomans ? What's this about Budda to Garrycastle ?
Paschal Keelaghan named at Ballinabrackey but also helping Jack Cooney at Kinnegad (thought his new job didn't facilitate this?) Keelaghan must be gone from Monasterevin but I hear Ian Bradley staying on.
Liam McNeill has just been confirmed at Moate along with Noel Galvin - 2 Rossies and McNeill was with Kinnegad the last few years.

Thought Cooney was helping Kellaghan in Kinnegad? Dempsey left Lomans to go travelling, kids in Australia, but Covid and travel restrictions hit.

Lomans have wished Luke best of luck in Killoe but have made no updates on their own affairs. Dowdall to Lomans is rubbish??

Not sure if it's true or not but I heard Frank Aughey is in with Paddy Dowdall at Lomans.

He plays midfield for Longford, and would be a loss (or big bonus) to any club from the little I've seen of him.

Probably Longford most influential footballer along with Mickey Quinn. A scoring midfielder who is a very good ball winner. A huge coup for Lomans if true.

Not sure how true that is but he'd be a serious addition to any club in the country. Midfielder for Longford the last number of years. He's a guard based in Tullamore so there could be some truth to it if he's living around the Mullingar region. Plays his club football for Granard.

He is a current Longford inter county midfielder and if that is allowed to happen that is utter bull. Not surprising of Lomans though dipping back in the transfer market
