Yes but will he make it 9. That is the question.

It's a hugely interesting topic. I said from the start I believed he was being brought back in with a promise to start not as some sort of mentor as some stated.

Imagine Jamsie going up to lift number 9.. ;) Putting a select few at a height looking down on everyone else, it would be GAA history being made, as if we Dub fans haven't witnessed enough exceptional and record defining feats. I honestly think that's part of Cluxton coming back, same for McCaffrey and Mannion. There's a mission at play this year.. Now if they are good enough remains to be seen, but make no mistake, there is something hugely substantial at play here that's not really being spoken about as a story. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 17/05/2023 10:59:11 2479194 Link 10 |
The opposition are restless with the thoughts of having to face-off against a team being led by the Great One. They slander his selection, dis Farrell, feign sympathy for O'Hanlon. All acts of desperation.. :)

Thanks for the compliments Jimbodub. We have been written off all year but have been very competitive in all our matches. Hopefully we can put in a good performance on Sunday. We have not won a competitive match in Croke Park in years. As the match will be played on a hot day in a big pitch, the performance of the different benches might make a big difference. It is one area that the Rossies have improved this year. Hopefully it will be a good match and the best team wins on the day.

Just stating facts man Justifiably earned your plaudits this year, played really good football.. competed against and beaten the best. Enjoy the build up, you'll be hard beat.. looking forward to seeing how Dublin reacts to this challenge jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 17/05/2023 11:53:56 2479224 Link 10 |
He might, he probably won't. But it's been a fairly decent effort to be fair. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13797 - 17/05/2023 12:25:39 2479231 Link 10 |
I found it interesting it was a Mayo poster and the perspective they took - because the cultural footballing psychologies between the two counties are so different. The Mayo posters point of view, is exactly the narrative that would be going on around Mayo about now and they'd divided and undermine themselves again - like 10 years of trying to find a spot for an underperforming Aidan O Shea at the top level and convincing themselves he has to be in.. Because that's the Mayo football culture, they are projecting, they wont believe their isnt even a peep or unsettling effect. Our footballing culture is different, its survival of the fittest, cut throat and the strongest survive - but ultimately the lads all come together for the collective and recognise the strength in that - its one of the bed rocks of our footballing success. Its fascinating the read the different footballing psychological cultures. Don't know if anyone saw it but their were pictures of Cluxton, Comerford and O Hanlon drinking pints on a night out after the Leinster final, yesterday in the papers up here. If you win it he will make it 9 as he's played already? And I have you as favourites this year...

So where do we want for the Kildare game? I'd go for Kilkenny. They'll probably pick Cavan now :D realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8753 - 17/05/2023 20:38:19 2479313 Link 8 |
There were only around a 1,000 Kildare supporters at the last game and it's not a final and they realise they missed whatever chance they had, so I'd imagine they will go for the smallest place possible. Capacity wise to limit numbers of Dubs and dimensions wide to allow them to park the bus again for the day.

What about Parnell Park? Only an hour up the road from Newbridge and wouldn't it be like an away ground for us! No point in making both teams travel further than is necessary! ;-)

Excellent... lol Apparently it is not our Home ground anymore, so defo could be considered as a Neutral venue ;o) Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4246 - 18/05/2023 10:56:04 2479375 Link 0 |
What's the story.. Is there an issue with Newbridge for this game? I 'm trying to follow this thread , but I can't see any reference to Newbridge not being an option ? This game is down as a home game for Kildare.

Newbridge is closed for renovations. Athy used to be used by Kildare - remember being at hurling down there - but don't think that's an option. So they have choice of alternative 'home.'
