I would love to see Southern Gaels win the IHC, might be a year too early. CTG will be hard beat if they don't lose many to the senior team, which I don't think they will.

Agree that Alan Mangan will be clever enough in the opening rounds to not eat into his intermediate team and will still easily plot a course to the senior semi-final. It's when the business end comes around and injuries happen that CTG intermediate might be vulnerable. Depending on how the football pans out for Milltownpass and Tyrellspass, St.Brigid's could be stronger come the end of the season with players coming back or nothing left to play for in football. Not sure is Southern Gaels are as reliant on footballers to make up their team..

Southern Gaels are rank outsiders in the championship. Can understand posters wishing them well but to reach the final would be a fantastic effort. Senior B win for Brownstown is huge for them and must give them a big chance of making a semi final.Delvin with the likes of Clinton,Coll Murphy and the Ennis brothers are under performing.A huge win for Southern Gaels with a very young team the people in Athlone working hard for hurling deserve great praise.If they can keep it up and with Athlone and Garrycastle not in their best moment just maybe the small ball might get some momentum in our biggest town.

Was in Joristown last night Brownstown deserved win last and prob should have been by more. Delvin panel depth showed up with total reliance on Clinton for scores. Delvin starting without Ennis, Coll, Kelly and Poynton from last year left them well short. its also good to see they are fielding at under 13,15,17 and 19 and are beginning to get players on county panels.

For sure. I was talking to a lad on holiday down here who played football himself but is bringing his youngest son to them as he prefers hurling. He's only u6 but the lad said the lads involved with the club are really putting the hours in recruiting and promoting and they have a good few in his young lads age group. Hopefully they all stick at it.

Can I ask how exactly that's a shock? Plunketts have been working hugely bringing young lads through in the last few years? Just this morning I seen the u16 Westmeath team was backboned by 7/8 plunketts lads. If I'm not mistaking plunketts relegated the wood lastyear from this competition aswell?

firstly how did the 16s do? If you read my posts i have been complementing plunketts underage work but U16 isnt senior.Plunketts only won the intermediate in 2021 and barely survived last year edging Raharney b down to intermediate while the Wood were winning this in 2020.Todays win shows that some of the talent is coming through.

A few shocks in the senior today - LLG had 4 points to spare over a poor Clonkill 1-16,0-15 and Pollard defeat Raharney 2-15,1-15. Early days but didn't see those results coming. Wide open championship but difficult to see Raharney being contenders based on tonight's display. They looked poorly prepared, no great team spirit, Pollard were hungryer team, Clonkill also looked well off the pace, Mitchell was missing but so was Jogger and Clonkill will struggle to make semi final now considering they have Castletown and Pollard and Raharney to play. Ya I see folks throwing out this crazy suggestion all the time..Let's put the effort in to clubs we have that are already up and running.. Crookedwood, Turin, Ringtown, Brownstown, Lough lene Gaels, Castlepollard, Cullion, Delvin can't even field teams at under 17 on their own..Most of them can't field teams at any underage level..
