Replying To clubfan17:  "There are 5 or 6 players on the team I picked earlier in the thread that arent involved currently. And that just off the top of my head. Theres a couple of Blessington players lilke Patrick O'Connor you could add to that but he might be abroad."
Watching intercounty games on tv and in person, it strikes me that the gaelic footballer profile has changed. The criteria seems to be tall; six foot and above plus athletic: able to run up and down the pitch. I'm not saying that skills are redundant but size and being athletic seem to be a bigger priority. Is this an issue for us as a county? I would hate to think that a footballer is picked for anything other than their footballing ability and like in the past; their speed but sadly I think that the modern game is more about the former i.e. size and athletic ability which to me seems to be crazy. In relation to the players you referenced, I'm glad to hear that there are other players in the county who have the ability to get on the county team. For any county these days, it is hard to get everyone committed as players have other priorities in their life. The difference in other counties is that they have a greater number of players of equal ability to pick from so when one player is not available, there is something else to pick in their place; not sure if we have such a vast pool to do the same?

What sort of team will Oisin field on Sunday against Limerick. A match in which neither side has anything to play for, perhaps Oisin will want to finish a successful year on a high

I'm not so sure that currently Oisin has many options in the team he picks. I think that looking back, we rode our luck in getting promotion this year and as the year is progressing, other teams are improving and as a consequence we have maybe been found out in the TC. If not found out then found wanting. To me, this was always the way we were going to be. We are, in my opinion, maybe up yon5 yrs off having a team that can compete at the top level, everblooming in Leinster. So, let's keep our feet on the ground and concentrate on staying in Div 3 which again, in my opinion, is going to be tough judging by our performances against 2 Div 4 teams in the TC to date.

I think Wicklow supporters are unsure where the team is at; too good for division 4 and probably not good enough for division 3? Since 2019, by my reckoning, we have spent more time in division 3 than we have in division 4 but haven't stayed in division 3 for consecutive league campaigns after earning promotion. In this time, the squad of players has changed a lot. Rode our luck in the league; I'm not sure. Yes, results went our way at the end but the team went unbeaten from the point when they lost to Sligo until the end of the campaign which we could say this: they produced when the pressure was on.

Based upon what I've seen, the team currently isn't good enough to stay in division 3 but I do think that there are players coming through which is a good sign. I would be concerned about the standard of club football in the county and I would be concerned that we still fail to contest leinster finals at underage despite a general feeling that we have had good enough teams in recent years. For the first time in a number of years, we seem to have continuity in terms of a manager and backroom team; it is vitally important that this remains, in place. Players need to get stronger and fitter and the team/squad needs to develop in terms of tactical play i.e. varied kick outs when required and developing a habit of scoring when chances present themselves.

Are there any other intercounty managers doing media work right in the middle of the season?

Not that I know of.

That same thought had crossed my mind too. I also thought it odd that when Oisiin was asked about Galway he mentioned having watched their game on the day that we were playing. Probably misquoted or taken out of context.

Either way, very best of luck to Carlow against the Dubs. It will be tough but Carlow are showing what a "small" county can do with the right preparation and mindset.

Do you think it is an issue and that the county board should push for him to reduce his committment in this area? Just wondering peoples' opinion, by the way. My own personal opinion is that he shouldn't be doing it but thinking about it; is it taken from his job with Wicklow? Probably not.

It's hard to know really. As mentioned above Harte does it, though he's definitely earned the right.
I'd probably wait and see how much he's around during the club championship season before landing on either side of the fence, and it's not like he was ever going to work miracles here anyway.

Best of luck to the Wicklow hurling team in their Nicky Rackard final against Donegal tomorrow in Croke Park. Hoping for a big performance, it would be great achievement to win the Nicky Rackard competition considering where they've been in the last couple of years. Plus it would build on Bray Emmet's success in the Leinster club at the end of last year. Hopefully the team can get the win.

Promotion from D4 and an impressive Leinster championship victory over Carlow in the first round before going down to a D2 side in QF. Success and progress in my book.

Well done to Casey and team, management and all involved. It wasn't looking too good at half time but thankfully the changes worked. This is a major boost to the lads for next year.

Congratulations to all connected with the Wicklow hurlers; great win in croke park. Significant progress made by new management and players this year. Along with Bray Emmett's success in the club championsip; bodes well looking well. Yes, further improvement will be required to move to the next level but that is for another day.
