Some great write ups in the paper this morning on the weekends games - credit must go to Brendan Lawrence and team for the stellar work they do.

Did I see pn Facebook that Paul Garrigan is leaving Meath ladies after 2 fantastic all Ireland wins. If that is true wouldn't it be great to have Paul as the new Wicklow manager.

Start of the championship for real this weekend. The big 4 are all out and some good games.

Tie of the weekend is definitely Blessington and AGB - I've seen a few people on here say that Blessington won't be as strong last year with key players missing, the bookies also have AGB as favorites. I don't know if I really believe the hype that AGB get, they're a good league team and run in goals when teams aren't as fit. They're not a championship team and I still think that Blessington should beat them, regardless of players missing. Blesso by 2

Pats vs an Tochar will be great to see the level that an Tochar are at. No matter how good they are it is too early for them to really take on Pats who could run away with this championship. Pats by 5

Baltinglass and Donard will be tight again and I love having a team like Donard in the championship. I think Balto are the second best team in the county at the moment and should win but it wont be easy. Balto by 6

Rathnew and Bray seems to happen every year! Bray must have the best record out of any team against Rathnew and they don't fear them at all. I'm going to back another upset and go for Bray by 4.

With the news that Paul Garrigan has stepped away from the Meath ladies - surely to god the county board have to do all in their power to get him in as the next senior football manager?

Our Senior Championship has started and there's not even a whisper of who it might be. This is a downside straight away we need our next manager at championship games having a look. To me Garrigans a no brainer- knows the county, worked wonders with Baltinglass and Meath - get him in the door and back him with the tools and support he needs.

What a game that was last night, it was a brilliant watch. An Tochar exceeded my already high expectations of them with how well they played for 60 minutes. They'll be kicking themselves they didn't see it out given the start they had. JP Nolan is a serious player and should be on the county panel next year on that performance alone. Pats were shell shocked and would have lost that game if it wasn't for Dean Healy, he basically dragged them through the game single-handedly. Big test for them and they'll be relieved to get over it. Nobody will want An Tochar in the losers round in a few weeks.

I was able to make the match also and must agree with Victorious 87. An Tochair really have a few nice young fellows coming through. Nolan's, Fees, Cullen, Fogarty, Sheehan, Brady and some more. A Roundwood supporter told me last night that they have a fair few very talented youngsters coming through the juvenile ranks. He was saying that they have a really talented coaching panel . This year may not be theirs but it seems as if they might be a really serious outfit in the not too distant future. Other clubs also have really talented young players also. It just shows what proper coaching and preparation and management can do.

I was hoping to get to this game last night as i thought it was the most intriguing game of this round but unfortunately i couldn't make it. It sounds like it was a really good game. I am glad to see An Tochar back and it does sound as though they have some talent. I hope they can build on it and no regress like Tinahely. It is disappointing that there is no county manager appointed to assess this talent from a county perspective. Is Mike Hassett involved in any capacity: coaching or otherwise in Roundwood?

I think I saw him on the line last night. At least it was one of the lads who put SAM on that pedestal in Croker a few weeks back.

It seems as if rumours of Blesso's demise have been greatly exaggerated. I think that any team wanting to lift Miley this year will have to deal with Blessington on the way. Bray seem to have had another fine win under their belts and disposed of Rathnew pretty handily, to judge by the score. That particular feat is never easy as Emmets have found in the past. Question is, how far can they go ?

Unfortunately didn't get to any games this weekend, hope to make it to matches in the coming weeks as the championship continues to hot up. AGB will be disappointed as they were thumped by Blessington minus Kevin Quinn - does this suggest Blessington are the real deal or that AGB are as someone said a league, not a championship team? I would say a bit of both and I do think Blessington could retain. I still not sure about Bray. I saw Rathnew in the championship last year and they were the poorest Rathnew team i remember so the jury is still out on Bray for me. Most impressive team(s) people have seen? Blessington, An Tochar, St Pats, Bray? Anyone else? Maybe Baltinglass or Donard\The Glen could join this list?

An Tochar produced the best performance of the weekend for me. They just ran out of steam in the extra time periods not a surprise given they played last week. Pats were very rusty in the first half but improved as they game went on. Hard to tell how good Blessington are because AGB were all over the shop. Bray ripped apart Rathnew...but Rathnew are quite a young team and have a bit of learning to do at this level. It has been an interesting championship so far...let's hope for more good games !

Great game Friday night. Well worth the tenner in. It was great to see the young Roundwood lads try deal with Healy, Kelly McWalter and the rest and how the Pats lads dealt with them eventually. Great viewing for the hour and half. Yesterday was a disappointment and not worth my tenner. Blessington were far better and are going to be hard bet. Rathnew were poor and hard to judge Bray in a game that was reffed overly fussy unlike Friday and the first game. Fouls have to be punished but stop start nature killed any hope of a decent game. Baltinglass by ten or more today my guess.

I hope to get to see An Tochar in the next round. I am intrigued to see them play especially if there is a kerry influence in terms of coaching. Is there any other coaching associated with any other clubs from outside the county?

Absolutely. Regardless as to how good or bad Donard were, there is a rutlessness associated with such a result. I am sure there will be tougher tests ahead for Baltinglass but they have made a real statement.

Overall the matches this weekend have resulted in easy wins aside from Friday night's game. There does seem to be a group of teams that are a step above the rest. Can any of the losing team jump into this leading group? When is the draw for the next round?

Balto can never be left out of any equation. Be interesting to get Victorious87's take on those still standing. He has been pretty accurate to date.
