Can't see anything wrong with todays controversy, at the end of the day the whistle was blown before the kick, get over it

Fair dues to Eastern Harps, they played the better football, controlled the centre of the pitch, and took their chances well either side of half time. They were cute when they had to be, and frustrated the Gaels.

I thought Molaise should have taken their points in the first half instead of the onion bag. They played the better football overall (although Coolera scored some lovely points) and probably deserved it in my opinion.
On a better day they probably would have taken on more shots, and scored, and the mess at the end would be immaterial.
I thought it was very bizarre the ref blew it up like that . Keaney took ball and let fly quick enough, but was it naive to chance it?
Coolera have a lot of stalwarts who can go to the well when needed so who knows how it'll go in the replay. Not much between them, again.

Replying To Sligonian:  "Duffy didn't say it was last kick, he should have. I know its not in the rule book but its a courtesy most refs give. There is no play clock so a player can't know exact timing. Is it not ridiculous that he didn't afford Alan that courtesy of telling him last kick imo. Then everyone knew Keaney was about to shoot and he couldn't give us that 5 seconds. None of us are asking for anything crazy, 2 things usually given in most games and Id take either. Duffy courts controversy although he refereed the game fine up until then except for his botched signaling at times

None of ye on here can tell me on the verge of winning the Owen B Hunt trophy for the first time in dramatic fashion wouldn't be annoyed by that ending unless you have the empathy of a stone like taypot and onthe45.

And don't worry we will be over this tomorrow and ready for the replay. The lads showed they can do it in conditions most would say suited Coolera more."
You need to get ready for the replay so. A free to win the game and you decided to play it short and you live with the consequences.

Tbf after the last minute free Ballymote are happy enough to go to a replay! Was sure that was it Marren hadn't missed much all game. Agree on the great atmosphere though both clubs brought massive support.

Well an eventful weekend with only the intermediate finalists able to enjoy the benefits of a bank holiday weekend final! Harps were very clinical and I would say Owenmore really were shown up in this final and perhaps highlighted that they were an outsider to be there in the first place.

The senior was a cagey affair as expected and weather didn't help the situation. Who'd have thought after all the talk of referees here before the finals that it would be the senior one we'd be talking about?! Looking back on the highlights that were posted by the county board you can see McLoughlin was lining up for the free but changed at last second when he saw an option to his right. I don't blame him tbh but unusual for a ref not to let the play finish especially when the time wasn't up as he passed the ball. Also would question the number of steps for the goal but all in all looking forward to another day out next week but still think Coolera to lift Owen B.

Can't comment on Ballymote game as I was expecting to watch it on stream but only had the option of the hurling but 1-5 for Marren is some scoring for Cloonacool.

I should writing about Keaneys unbelivable score to win it, in the most pressure moment he once again delivered, only to be robbed of that moment

The truth of Sligo GAA could never get written on here and its why we are a joke of a county who win nothing"
Bitter post? Sligo win nothing ? 3 Connacht titles in the last few years. For a county our size it's decent.

The senior game was cagey. I thought we started ok but Coolera looked sharper. About 10 mins before half time we seemed to flip a switch and started to move the ball faster and up the intensity. Losing Luke Towey was a blow but he will hopefully be back. I thought paddy mcgowan who replaced him was excellent though. Casserly and Ryan were very good. Lots of great battles all over the field, banks and keaney, I felt Joe came out on top. Alan was elite as always and led by example. Davitt did well and got his goal, great finish and coxey made everything stick up front which gave us good field position. 3 pts was a big lead in those conditions but Coolera aren't champions for nothing and probably should have pushed on when they got level. Our lads pushed back well to create that last chance.

Coolera will be hoping we obsess on the ending but we are over it. There was plenty of belief to take from yesterday for us and we move on. We held murphy well 2nd half, not sure if he was 100%. We left scores behind us, goal chances too so we did create enough and if we can do the same the next day and be a little more clinical we are in with another great chance. Both teams will have learned plenty. I'd imagine the teams will be the same the next day. I see John Gilmartin is down to referee and if does as good as job as the semi final both teams will be happy. Hopefully the weather is better. Should be a big crowd which help the county board finances too.

Why was it last kick of the game when the free was given well before the 3 mins were up. Duffy doesn't blow the whistle until Joe gains possession and his kick is almost immediate. He waits for Joe to get it until he blows it up. Absolutely mad stuff."
Tony McEntee's fault I'd say…

Also it appears you're going off the Sligo GAA tv clock which with their record of technical difficulties might not be the wisest. It's the referees watch that counts. Look at the scoreboard, it says 63.34… not saying that's right either but shows there's a discrepancy. A pretty big one at that…I'd have to guess the scoreboard is closer to the correct time but who knows only Michael Duffy. He looks at watch as free is taken and obviously sees time is up. He's the ref, stop crying about this and that when you don't know what's factual.

You mention that Coolera hope that you obsessed on the ending, but you are over it. Are you not thousands of miles away so you have no idea of the mood in the camp bar the WhatsApp group that you mention infrequently

Going to go with my Annual Team Of The Year.
This is definitely open to debate as as there was a lot less match reports than previous years I might be hard on some lads. Needless to say I couldn't possibly attend all games. In general I thought the standard in the Intermediate was average and a poor final didn't help.

(1) Alan Davey (Eastern Harp's)
(2) James Soden ( Eastern Harp's)
(3) Conor Johnson ( Coolaney)
(4) Shane Tighe (Geevagh)
(5) Conor Murray (Bunninadden)
(6) Finnian Cawley (St. Farnans)
(7) Nathan Mullen (Coolaney)
(8) Conor Walsh (Eastern Harp's)
(9) Darren Foley ( Geevagh)
(10) Daire O Callaghan (Owenmore Gaels)
(11) Ciaran O Dowd ( Enniscrone)
(12) Dillon Walsh (Owenmore Gaels)
(13) Sean O Hara (Eastern Harp's)
(14) Pat Hughes ( Geevagh)
(15) Caelan Hunt (Eastern Harp's)

Player of the year Alan Davey

Interesting !

Could not have Cawley or Mullen on games I seen this year. Hunt from Harps was the standout player.

I was only at the tail end of Intermediate games this year and on performances alone I reckon Shane O'Grady should keep the phone close over the next few days. He's had an off few years due to injuries but great to see him back to what appears to be his best. He's doesn't love the group stage but, he's a great man for cover.

I can't really argue with your selection. It was a toss between Davey and Hunt for player of the year and I went for the keeper as he only conceded one goal in 7 games. He also saved a penalty in extra time against Geevagh which probably won't the championship for Harps.

The interesting thing about these teams are that the management of each would probably select different players. The obvious choices often aren't the right ones. Well done to Eastern Harps. Well deserved and I'd expect them to stay in senior and compete for Owen B soon,.

I was watching it online and couldn't believe they went short if I'm honest. And I'm not sure it's up to the ref to notify them of time remaining.

Taypot, I'm not part of any whatsapp groups linked to SligoGAA or my club and never mentioned once on here that I was. I have always been well informed with club and county matters despite living thousands of miles away. It looks to me you are probably part of few CB whatsapp groups yourself. They probably tell you to come on here when I post something they don't like lol;)

John/BB123, people did reach out to me to say the clock on the stream was 30 seconds off. Is it not mad stuff that the streamers had that wrong for all the online viewers. Never seen that before. Hopefully doesn't happen again as a lot of people are relying on that. I think I will set my own timer on Sunday lol.

As I said I am looking forward to Sunday. At least the weather is looking better too which should add to the occasion.

All the best to Molaise players and management.

RIP PJ Carroll, condolescenes to his family and friends.

I remember when he was Sligo Manager and got us close to a few big wins in Connacht. Before he came we were whipping boys in Connacht and we had a young group of great players coming through that he blooded fast. We were close to beating Galway at home drawing twice in 95&96. He helped change the mindset and helped kickstart some of our best years in my lifetime.
