Ollie, I know he played his last Louth game in 2003 but he was instrumental in Joes winning Joe Ward in 2006 so I would include the late great Stephen Melia RIP, in my favourite team for that period. Not sure who to leave out.

Stephen Melia played with Louth from 1984 to 2001. He holds the record appearance with the Wee County with 179 matches. He was captain when Louth won the Division 2 title against Offaly in 2000. If it was any other Louth team he would def be on it but I am picking it from 2005 because thats the year I first joined Hoganstand.

Got it Ollie. Happy New Year. Stephen was one of the best men on the Clans.field that wet day in 2006.I know his inter county days were over. Do you where Clonbonny is? 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1581 - 07/01/2022 21:50:48 2394043 Link 0 |

Ollie found Clonbonny ok. It's in the surburbs ol Lanesboro. A nice pitch with a wee stand. Lots of Stewart's directing traffic etc. Well done to organising group. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1581 - 09/01/2022 11:56:57 2394170 Link 0 |
Thanks 1961

Started well and then fell asleep, a lot of regulars missing and some taken off, maybe the hard training got to them? Interesting to see how this week pans out. MR2 (Louth) - Posts: 40 - 10/01/2022 10:18:28 2394338 Link 0 |
Here is my fav Louth team from the past 50 years. 1. Gerry Farrell 2. Leslie Toal 3. Stephen Melia 4. Danny Nugent 5. John O Brien 6. Aidan Wiseman 7. Razor Finnegan 8. Paddy Keenan 9. Seamus O Hanlon 10. Benny Gaughran 11. Aaron Hoey 12. Damien Reid 13. Stefan White 14. JP Rooney 15. Colin Kelly Ollie2 (Louth) - Posts: 657 - 10/01/2022 21:22:27 2394470 Link 0 |
It would not be far off 19616609. 8 points up at half time and only to score 2 points in the second half with Longford getting the 2 goals were the big difference. Jay Hughes looks a good prospect. On to Parnell Park next. By the way Happy belated New year to your goodself.

Watched the game vs the Dubs last night on BeoSport, great service and option for this time of year! Very poor Louth team and performance, particularly in the 1st half! At no stage did they even attempt to play some football. A lot of lads look completely out of their depth…even the "improved" second half team left a lot to be desired! Ciaran Byrne's form was only positive to take away from last nights game. Colin66 (Louth) - Posts: 55 - 13/01/2022 15:36:03 2394773 Link 0 |
Any ideas when local club fixtures are out for winter league and also divisions 1 to 6? Past hurler (None) - Posts: 548 - 13/01/2022 20:44:52 2394825 Link 0 |
Ah here - Some of these lads never played with Louth before! Missed a few chances also. Yes, the goals was not good especially the 2nd one. 3rd Q was very good and Byrne was on fire. They are Div 3 after all and only up from Div 4. MR2 (Louth) - Posts: 40 - 13/01/2022 20:53:34 2394828 Link 0 |
How many will come back for the Laois game? Sam is a big loss if still injured? MR2 (Louth) - Posts: 40 - 17/01/2022 08:31:19 2395226 Link 0 |

I think this 3 are out Ollie 12. Ciaran Downey 13. Ciaran Keenan 14. Conor Grimes It is a Pity we have so many injuries, I am just hoping that all these games do not suit Laois. MR2 (Louth) - Posts: 40 - 20/01/2022 13:47:22 2395741 Link 0 |
The rumour going around the Bull is that James Califf is back in the Louth squad but this time as a goalkeeper.
