As I a said above I'm not putting the footballers down at all. I'm making the factual comment that the footballers are always missing some. Players have their own reasons for not committing and in each case that's 100% fair enough. They're amateurs. And so are the hurlers. I'm not going to name players for that very reason. They all have their own reasons. Some prefer to play soccer in the local pub league, others are studying for exams, others want to concentrate solely on their club, some are building a house, some are working away from Carlow and it's too much to get back to train for county and so on. All valid reasons. It's great that the hurlers aren't affected in the same way. That's my point. Onion Breath (Carlow) - Posts: 1852 - 16/05/2026 12:50:58 2673289 Link 0 |

Sorry it just came across as a needless swipe but the fact that the hurlers can consistently punch above their weight definitely helps massively with it. Very little glory in the footballers consistently playing division 4, not getting championship wins and throw in the odd pummelling. Hurlers on the other hand have success in Christy ring and Joe Mc the last 20 years, big matches in the Leinster championship and big days out. If things change and we become more consistent and better days out with the footballers, you'll see more people committing despite those things going on in their personal lives. There's no player not involved with the hurlers that should be in with the footballers so you're spouting nonsense.

FFS I never said there is. Show me where I said that? I gave lots of reasons why some county standard footballers have opted out of joining the football panel. I never said playing county hurling was one of the reasons! Onion Breath (Carlow) - Posts: 1852 - 16/05/2026 16:53:51 2673324 Link 0 |

Very comfortable in the end. Poor enough first half though. Surprised London ran Antrim to 4 points last week.

At least 7 of the starting hurling 15 today would walk onto the football panel and strengthen it, not too mention the subs.Thats common knowledge. The EO MLR Q/f last year backs up that.. There's no one from football panel that would make the current extended hurling panel. Fair dues to the minor and u20 management teams for facilitating dual players this year btw. Both codes reaping the rewards. Anyway CROKER here we come.. Yup Carlow, brilliant lads. Carlowtothecore1 (Carlow) - Posts: 149 - 16/05/2026 19:47:05 2673371 Link 0 |
