Replying To Unusedsub:  "Fantastic way to respond to the poor showing last week. Scoring 7 goals in a match is some return! Big crowd and big performance needed next week. It's in them to do it. Great win in the camogie too. A win for the footballers tomorrow will cap a good weekend off."
Same team as last week named for today with one exception Johnny Furey back in goals.

How did Ben McCarron play last week? Retaining our own kickouts will be major today

Had a few hairy moments but overall played well......yes kickouts and breaking ball will be the key. We were poor at this against meath and at start of second half against fermanagh

With one exception which cost us a point in the first half his kick outs were fine. Problem was not the kick outs but winning possession off them around the especially in the second half when chop chop tired. Conor Doyle apart we didn't have the ball winners. Went short or to the sides with them late on which with the new rules can be hairy but we worked it up very well from the corners. Might see more of that today.

They showed real guts today
Carlow teams of old would have thrown in the towel at 6 points down

Kept going till the end. Great penalty finish. Hit post and cross bar twice should have been 7 up at half time. Great start to second half from one down to three up. Lost their way a little when wexford goaled. But stuck to their plan. A little lucky before we got penalty they hit a screamer wide. Momentum is everything onwards to Longford game. Well done all involved.

Fair play, a draw was the very least Carlow deserved from that game. So unlucky with 3 goal attempts coming back off the post/ crossbar. Murphy really has turned things around and the pace in some of your attacks was very impressive.
You're certainly hot favourites to top the group now, longford have nothing to play for in your last game.

Apart from Carlows missed chances. I thought we were a bit unlucky too. Starting without Glen Malone ( a huge loss) we lost 3 players to injuries before half time, and missed a glorious chance late on before Carlows penalty.
As always, a pleasure to attend Dr Cullen.

Great result for us today and I think they deserved the draw. Wexford might dispute that but the reality is we had 7 goal chances and took 2 with 3 hitting the crossbar 3 times. Wexford had 3 goal chances and took one but yes they missed a great chance to go 6 up just before we got the penalty but over 70 minutes I think we got a deserved draw. As was said earlier we'd never have got something from that game previously as with the chances missed and Wexford then going 6 up we'd have thrown in the towel and it would have petered out.

Great chance now of topping the group. Longford are out of it now and can't qualify so will only be fulfilling the fixture in two weeks time and Wexford and Fermanagh won't be much in it whichever way it goes. We should surely beat Longford with a bit to spare so even if Wexford beat Fermanagh you'd imagine we'll have a better score difference and should top the group so that would be straight into a home quarter final.

All credit to Joe Murphy who's turned this season around in a month. And the gas thing is that comes as no surprise to any of us who know Carlow football. It's all about looking forward now I know but think of this time last year when we took a fierce hiding off Wexford in the championship with virtually the same group of players. The county board will be delighted with what's happened since Joe came in

Kildare have really put the cat among the pigeons now. I was hoping Leix would beat them today and therefore qualify for the final but now Carlow and Leix next Saturday is effectively a semi final as Kildare will surely hammer down and make the final.

Hard to know what way Leix will turn up after that beating they got today. Will there be a backlash or will their heads drop? As big a shock as losing to Kildare was for us it must be even bigger for them as they were forewarned and the scoreline indicates it was actually a hammering. At least in our case we got back to level with Kildare with 10 to go but Leix look to have been very well beaten.

It's all in our lads hands now anyway. Hopefully a big Carlow crowd will turn up with football supporters turning up as well.

I'm just after calming down after it.

Carlow very good in first half and went 3 points up at start only to be pegged back by Wexford who took their scores easier than we did.

We had good possession and team looks well organised. We had two great goal chances that both hit the bar but looked the better team. Despite this Wexford went in a point up at half time 9 to 8.

Start of second half we bossed midfield with Conor Doyle prominent and went 13-10 up. Another goal chance hit the bar. From 45 points on till the end Wexford took over with their two midfielders and centre back bosses the match and they scored a goal to go 1-14 to 13 up.

We had another goal chance with Bambrick and I don't know how it stayed out. Wexford added points to go 6 up
They then added a few scores and went 6 points up and our lads looked tired. In the past we would have folded and lost by 10 points.

But Ross Dunphy got a great finish to leave a goal in it, Wexford got a point to go 4 up and should have finished us off.

John Phiri who was very good scored a belter of a point and won possession a few times at the end. Injury time almost up and a last run saw a stone wall penalty. The ref took an age to consult but gave it and Conor Doyle buried it.

I'm probably wrong about a couple of the details but i honestly need to calm down after the finish.

Well done Carlow, Wexford are a fine team.

Roll on next match, we can top the group.

Just heard wexford manager there. I understand that he's disappointed to lose a 6 point lead but thought he was very ungracious. All about how wexford threw it away, even when interviewer noted carlow s 3 goal misses in 1st half. Also whinging about the pitch, that it caused wexfords injuries because of it's unevenness. Very churlish behaviour I thought.
