It's ok . But I am one of those who loves the tradition 3 colours jersey.
Might buy the white one for the summer and the Joe amc Donagh final"
A lot of money for colours that are nt even our colours

Everyone of those are entitled to their opportunity as full panel are totally commited to improving Carlow hurling and not prioritising self rewards. Not like some with other code unfortunately.
League over, will have no bearing on championship, in theory either Carlow or Westmeath could be out of it before they meet again with 3 prior matches.
Delighted to see Daragh, Colm, and Donagh, getting first league starts I think, may be missing someone.
Looks Good for the future."
And Kyle Foley in Goal?? Or did he play with seniors previously?

London is always a tough place to go and record a win so credit for that. However a very disappointing league campaign overall. With this new county year, there are really three different competitions, league, championship and Tailteann cup. Question is do now we have a panel of players to survive all three.

It's only a 2nd jersey & the Footballers & Hurlers have only worn it once to boost sales I'm sure. It's not too often we would have to wear the white one due to a clash of colours. I'm delighted to see the back of the red shorts though. We have enough colour in the jersey without adding red shorts

U-20 footballers out tomorrow night at home to Wexford. I wouldn't know many of the team but based on those I do know the forwards look promising but for some reason John Phiri is not picked. Anyone know the story is he injured? He's been part of the senior panel all through the league but didn't come on in any game. He's one classy player we could surely do with.

Unsure about John but starting team is a young one, only 7/8 of the starting team up to full age, 3 from last years minor team starting. Difficult to know how it will go, have been beaten by Wexford past few years at minor

He is injured. By all accounts the 20s have prepared well. You would probably ideally have more full age 20s on it. But the younger lads are good footballers

Is it ever any other way with Carlow underage teams!

That's a pity he's a big loss. I'll go more in hope than expectation anyway ...

Sorry for the intrusion, but as I have said before, I am a follower of both yours and the Wexford forum - mostly as far as football is concerned we are kind of in the same basket - in every way as we also can never field an underage team that is even close to the full age. I heard that many of our u17s are able to play in 26. Even the stronger counties would probably have one or two really good ones but when you go 5/6/7 even 8 eligible the following year, the pressure is on.

It seems that every year in Carlow we're given hope that next year's minors or U-20's will be strong and should be capable of a run on the basis that we hear half of the current team are underage again next year ... and then next year comes along and lo and behold it's the same story again.

I dunno how much of that is down to the 7-8 guys underage again not actually committing to it again for their final year, or is it that the balance of guys at the right age (17 and 20 respectively) who needed to make up the team are not strong enough so another batch of the best of next year's team have to be brought in?

If it's the latter then it indicates we're only producing say 7-8 players each year actually strong enough to play county. And ultimately that's down to a combination of the clubs and the work they are putting in or not in many cases (I mean clubs with potentially big picks here) and the structures (too many small clubs going it alone who aren't able to produce competitive teams alone and potentially strong players are missing out on development).

Anyway hopefully we see some green shoots tonight.

That is a tough one. Commiserations. It will surely have to be an internal pick ? . Who else would know the players in a few days ?? I had thought your team was starting to assert itself a bit. Some pretty decent ballers in it.

This is all on our county board. They didn't bother making any serious effort to fill the vacancy properly when Niall Carew left and they found a handy stopgap who they thought would keep our heads just about above water, which is the height of their ambition, but now they've struck an iceberg and we're about to sink. 11 days to the championship, you almost couldn't make it up. May as well give Meath a walkover and withdraw from TC.
