I disagree about "Gone are the days of getting to Ulster finals every year", if you look at the trends since the 1990's, Donegal are becoming a more consistent force at Senior level despite the lack of success at underage. We seem to still always produce a few good players in each generation, which keeps us strong at Senior level.

If Declan Bonner does return next year, he needs a major shakeup in his backroom team, fresh ideas and methods. Its probably also time to evaluate the whole team and whether big names should be entitled to starting roles at the moment.
Perhaps its time for more squad rotation, with the like of Michael Murphy, Paddy McBrearty and Ryan McHugh rotated into the starting line up.

The reality is our county board dont want anyone else, regardless of recent results or which direction we are going.
As the manager and county board are like family. So how can we expect them to make a decision which will impact in there cosy relationship.
That is the problem with Donegal football right there, everyone scratching each others back, and keeping power within.
I dont see Bonner stepping aside, irrespective of how poor the last 3 season's have been. And therefore the county board will not remove him.
So at least another year wasted.
How anyone can support our current management setup after the last 3 season's is crazy.
So it does not give me much hope for the future, more of the same of acceptance of failure and back scratching.
I will not be supporting Donegal football unless the attitude of acceptance of failure changes.
If that makes me not a Real supporter, then i will wear that hat. And i will not be the only one judging by the armagh game and ulster final.
I will continue to air my displeasure at our current acceptance of failure, until hopefully one day we actually think like winner's

Your not a supporter so don't worry about it. I can't understand how you have an opinion on it. Going back on your posts your anti management from day 1 even having the audacity to say Cathal Corey should have got the job 5 years ago. In your eyes unless your from glenties or have a connection with the club you don't count. You ramble on about Mc Guinness in every post, if Mc Guinness is such a great gaa man what's to stop him looking for the job. You've been asked numerous times who you think should be manager but like most of the wafflers you don't have a name.so take off your blue and white blinkers for once. There is gaa football outside glenties and if bonner decides to stay on, Donegal gaa can do without people like you. So go on get your club to nominate Mc Guinness that's shudnt be hard to do, or else stop talking nonsense. Your like a spoiled child saying I won't follow Donegal if bonner is there. Bonner has done a lot more for Donegal than you or any of your cronies.

Haha this highlights your lack of knowledge in a nutshell roryboy. Derry just won an Ulster using exact same template as us in 2012. Swarming the defence and attacking at pace. Serious lack of understanding of modern game here lad. Even Harder to take future

He never played the game, as i have mentioned several times and which he did not reject.
So how could anyone take rorysboys seriously.

Sorry I was with you for most of that post but that last line of "your cronies" is bang out of order considering the most successful manager ever for donegal is from Glenties. People have opinions and everyone is aloud them but theres no need to bring down a whole club based on one poster on HS.

I am from NC and I have a completely different opinion I wouldn't want McGuinness right now or anyone within our club going for the job but as you said I really don't have a name for who I want. I would love to hear of somebody from outside the county coming in and someone that is strong and vocal.

Just for the record, to a certain poster on here who actually thinks he's some sort of celebrity. It's you're, not your and it's their, not there. You'd think with almost 1500 posts that the spelling and grammar would have improved at this stage.

If Declan Bonner stays on and needs to replace Stephen Rochford and others in the backroom team,

1. Michael Boyle would be an ideal candidate, although I think I read that he is in London or abroad these days. He is widely credited as being the mastermind behind Gaobh Dobhair County and Ulster titles in 2018, and is highly regarded. I seen him comment recently about Donegal playing possession football with no intent against Derry, he referenced the 2017 Dublin v Tyrone game as an example of how to attack the mass blanket defence.

2. Frank McGlynn is a smart cookie and someone with a temperament that I can see eventually being a great manager someday, I think it would be good to have his input into player selection and tactical setup, he has done great work with Glenfin.

3. Leo McLoone is another guy who has been involved with underage training for years now, both with Glenties and Donegal U20's, and might be able to contribute positively.

In reality it is unlikely that these guys would be invited in by Declan Bonner, I don't think he has any real connection with any of them, but they are some options.

Would Michael Hegarty be another? I don't know if he has much coaching experience but he was one of the most intelligent footballers about in his day.

Read my post again I did not call all your club cronies. I was referring to the keeper and his stay away supporters. I always had a good time for n Conal and the great work they do. As a matter of fact I have supported them in a lot of county finals. What irks me is a poster running down a great gaa man who has put his life and soul into Donegal gaa.. yes people can criticise but the keeper was against bonner from day one and when they win games he would disappear but when we lost the Ulster Final this year he was the first posting..

Ye will be better off. Brought absolutely nothing to Donegal. In fact ye got worse since he joined the management team.
Doubt he was doing it for nothing either so a huge expense off the county board expenditure id imagine

Yeah he possibly would, great footballer in his day, but he always struggled with injuries a lot though. He potentially would make a great coach.

Brian Mc Enif is not from Glenties ????

But that poster is way outta order yet again - how he's allowed to post a lot of this childish insults and name calling is beyond belief.

Most likely would b much better off taking a break as he's all over the place.

You are completely right in that i never believed Bonner was the right man for the job. And the reason was his first spell managing the county team was uninspiring and unsuccessful.
And i have been proved correct by looking at the results in his second spell.
Yes he is a great donegal servant and along with many others has put a lot into donegal gaa, but he has gained plenty also.
But the reality is he is an uninspiring manager to the players, results have shown that, and also uninspiring to a lot of good gaa supporters.
As i said previously, I be chatting regularly with supporters from malin to glen because of my work, who were absolutely die hard supporters that never missed a game. But have simply had enough of the slow, hands off approach of this Donegal team.
And they dont blame the players, everyone of them said the talent is there, we are just not getting the best out of them.
They all agree a change is needed to reinvent this bunch of players.
Nothing personal against Bonner, i never have had a conversation with him in my lifetime, i just simple believe he is not the right man for this job.
And i am not the only one.
And to say you supported NC in county finals is hard to believe, considering on several different post, all you did was insult or be critical of our club.
But this is not about me, rorysboys or any other poster, it should be about what is best for Donegal gaa, and i find it hard to believe anyone believes that Bonner staying on is what is best.
