Not that long ago that you were praising Anthony Molloy in the same paper for calling out the online abuse…. But now u don't buy it when someone calls it as it is and doesn't suit your love for the mgt…. Baffling to say the least…. eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1693 - 22/06/2022 09:55:20 2426757 Link 3 |

Pauric o'shea is a respected writer who has played the game, and always give a fair reflection of where we stand. And a lot more pundits have said the exact same as him. Pundits that have played the game at the highest level. Yet you never played the game and have minimal knowledge on the game. I wonder who should i listen to. If our manager really cared about Donegal football, he would have seen that supporter's voted with their feet, and stepped aside. If he would put aside his ego and look at what is best for Donegal football, then he would have stepped down already. And its not who i want as manager, its what is best for Donegal football is what i want. And no stone should be unturned to find the right personality to lead this team. Thats the difference between me and you, i actually want whats best for Donegal football. As does pauric o'shea. You are just a youngster who has to much time on his hands, and is just here to try and get attention. Here is an idea, go out and meet people. If you cared about Donegal football, you would go and follow them. Instead of sitting behind a computer criticising the management team. Sad really.

I will not be following Donegal until current management step away. And that goes for other supporters also. Pity the current management would not do the right thing and let someone lead that team to maybe an all Ireland semi or final. Now away you go and go meet people, maybe even kick a ball about, you never know, you might learn something The keeper (Donegal) - Posts: 711 - 22/06/2022 15:18:57 2426872 Link 0 |
I'd guess Bonner is walking backwards and sideways not taking a step forward in his decision, hoping everyone will fall asleep waiting is his best game plan, awful shame it only took yous 5 years to realise the Donegal duvet is done needs thrown out GaelicLion (Tyrone) - Posts: 12 - 22/06/2022 16:08:33 2426887 Link 0 |
So you are proving again that your not a real supporter. I knew it all along. I would love to know what level you played at if any. Have a nice day. Lol

If Bonner is to stay on there will need to be some blue sky thinking with regard to the backroom team. More of the same just won't be palatable to a lot of Donegal support. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9746 - 22/06/2022 16:44:32 2426905 Link 0 |
I guess you don't know that much about Pauric or you wouldn't have called him O'Shea.Regardless of that I don't think he was condoning the fans staying away as I saw him at the game myself. He was talking about bringing in consultants to help the manager and while I would always respect his opinions I am not too sure we need more people in the backroom team.Regardless of who is manager or what we think of him I think we should do our best to support the players in big do or die matches,Big support makes a huge difference.I don't think anybody will want to push Bonner out unless they are very sure they can get a good replacement.I am sure there will be a lot of sounding out being done these days.

Mystic Meg back again. Any big predictions on the Donegal manager lad. Can you see bonner staying on or will we see this John lad stepping in.

It's not much of a duvet anyway to be fair. We don't tackle with intensity anymore, we shadow and get numbers back hoping the opposition will cough up the ball by making mistakes or kicking wides. Doesn't work against top level opposition. Anyway, we beat you guys a few times in championship during that 5 years so it wasn't all that bad lol. I'm sorry things haven't gone to plan in recent years for Declan and the players. I hope a change happens and that's in no way meant to disrespect anyone. Top level competition sometimes requires tough calls. I don't trust our county board to get things right I'm afraid. But I'll be delighted to be proven wrong. I'm not sure he will stay on John, for two reasons: 1. I think he has taken the team as far as he can and I think deep down he probably knows that himself. 2. He has been heavily involved with this team for 5 seasons now and the underage teams before that. He probably is running on empty at this stage and needs a break. It's a huge commitment and one that shouldn't be taken lightly by others. I think he will bow out honorably. However, until that is confirmed I don't think it is fair to be discussing his successor. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1184 - 23/06/2022 11:05:22 2427011 Link 0 |
Good points. The most important point is that there is no candidate atm. No-one is interested. Neither are the county board interested in someone for the roll. I expect Bonner to be back next year. A tough job. Gone are the days of getting to ulster finals every year on the trot. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3846 - 23/06/2022 11:23:52 2427016 Link 0 |
Exactly plenty of time to talk about replacements if he steps down. Going by our under age managers this last few years there's not many putting there names in the hat. And with the seniors being a tougher job I think it'll be hard to get a local candidate..

I would agree on those two reasons for why Declan Bonner might consider stepping away. As for discussing successors, I think its fair to discuss on this forum, as they team has failed to meet expectations for the last 3 seasons and most of the Country including pundits etc feel this Donegal is not reaching its potential. I think Declan Bonner has been a decent manager, I think he was definitely the best option in 2018 and has done relatively well considering the number of injuries each year in recent times and how that has impacted our traction. While I am not against Declan, I believe that after 5 seasons and particularly 3 consecutive poor seasons that the team has lost momentum and drive and for that reason we need something fresh.
