I think you are suffering from Scotomization, where the mind sees what it wants to see, as I didn't call Kerry average, I said the following

"That is not disrespectful to their other players, they do have a very talented squad, they are still a top 3 team without Clifford. My point is that the other top Kerry players are not miles ahead of the quality star players in the other top 3 or 4 teams in the Country."

Key notes you my comment you purposely ignored
- Kerry still a top 3 team without Clifford.
- The other top Kerry players are not 'miles ahead' of the Quality star players in other top 3 or 4 sides.

I fail to see any bitterness in my comment, surely It would be arrogance and disrespectful to suggest otherwise, considering how Kerry fare without him.

Truth is except for a few Ulster titles in last 35 years or so Donegal has limited pedegree at All Ireland level.
McGuinness brought through a horrible brand of football when first came in and recently Donegal started excelling again with football on its knees. Donegal had a good year last year and did defeat a weakend Meath comprehensively in semi but badly exposed by a better football team in Kerry in the final.
Other counties will develop traditional football skills and implement these further this year with new rules and McGuinness and his players will have to get with it or risk falling off. The feq million spent won't continue without regular national success in a amateur game!

Except for a few Ulster titles in the last 35 years? Donegal have won 2 All-Irelands in that timeframe, the same as Meath and have been to two more finals, the same as Meath. They've also won 9 Ulster titles in that time, in what has been a very competitive province. One which has produced 5 different counties to win All-Irelands in the same period. Far more than any other province. Donegal have plenty pedigree, particularly over the period you've mentioned.

What pedigree do Meath have in the all Ireland?
Donegal are closer to winning another one then ye are.
You beat Kerry at their worst and got embarrassed by us then.
Focus on being anything other than the 4th best team in a terrible province.

Have to say it's very rich coming from a meath supporter on how to win all irelands . I didn't see any mass brawls in the All irelands Donegal won. Whatever we used it was within the rules of the games and not the shenanigans we seen a certain other county use against opposition players. Maybe you aren't old enough but I'd advise you to go back and look at history channel for footage of last time use competed in all irelands or even semis to see some of stuff went on.

The excuses of a weakened meath team in 2026 just sour grapes lol. Use were comprehensively beaten and we were well beat in final by a better kerry team on the day. But we will learn, we made mistakes (lot due to inexperience) but we will be back.

Yes we are the Kings of ulster for last 15 years and will always take a serious team to beat us in ulster. Maybe meath should focus on getting a top class louth team of its perch in leinster before having digs at Donegals ulster credentials for years ahead.


Best of luck in year ahead hope to see use in a semi final down the road in 2026.

You keep questioning McGuinness but his track record speaks for itself regardless of you questioning his methods. Truth is, you'd love him in Meath. You might have that elusive Leinster Title or Division 1 football if he was. Hope you enjoy the double headers in Croke Park this year. Be sure to stay on for the division 1 games after.

While I agree that the comment you are replying to is a bit silly, at the end of the day you're on a Donegal thread making digs at the Donegal team, manager, playing style, pedigree and so on... you have to expect a bit of push back. The current meath team is very decent and has potential to push on again. Maybe they will and maybe they won't. Currently, Donegal is an overall better team than Meath regardless of what excuses or provisos you want to put on that. However, that can change very quickly as most of us know. Good luck to Meath for the season ahead (I won't put any snarky additions to that as there isn't a single team in the country who doesn't need a bit of luck along the way, even the "better footballing" teams)

Eddie very poor from a man watching donegal all year to say we are a 2 man band. Did mccole and roarty not get accolades this year? You not feel conor o donnell should have been cert for all star. 1 pundit was off the opinion he was our best forward in 2025. Let's not forget we were only 2 points away from final in 2024 without our greatest ever player. Also great years from like of Big Hugh, Thompson, Moore(you forget about the hyde) , Shane o donnell etc.

Think we'll need some fresh blood in the team this year.
I'd have big hopes for Muldoon. He's a classy player and he has a bit of unpredictability about him in the way he runs at defences and breaks lines. A big step up to senior county I know, but the signs are good.

Delighted to see Eoin McGeehin finally in the Donegal squad, he was listed to start against Derry last Saturday before the game was cancelled. I'm not a St Eunan's club member/fan, but I rate him very highly, particular his stealth ability to silently lose his marker and drift into goal scoring positions. I think he could be a very big player for Donegal in 2026.

Paul O'Hare is another interesting addition to the full back line, after having a brilliant Club Championship with Naomh Columba.

I agree that Muldoon is a young player with massive potential, not sure if he will have the physicality at this point to make a huge impact at Senior level, but he isn't far off. Is he still eligible for the U20's this year?
