For sure. He was a great football man but was also a great personality. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him in a bar watching a World Cup match one summer. He was some craic!

I never met the man myself but his post match interviews were worth listening to. They definitely weren't full of the usual standard answers that managers come out with.

Aye I was sad to hear that, I didn't realise he had cancer and that was the reason he stepped away from Galway, I always had great respect for him. I know some of the Harps fans were growing frustrated with him towards the end of his reign at Harps, but afterwards I think most of them realized what he was achieving was amazing considering the little or no support he had.

My condolences to his family, he was a gentleman and unique character.

I heard Niall O'Donnell, Odhran McFadden Ferry and Stephen McMenamin might be out next season due to commitments, but I usually take these stories with caution, may be no foundation to them.

I heard about the first 2 but not about McMenamin. Niall's is to do with game time I believe. A shame really because I think he's a good player, one of our better subs leaving the panel.

One is heading back to Oz.

I must be banned from mentioning a certain topic that happened last weekend

I found it strange that McFadden Ferry didn't get more game time this year. He's supposed to be one of our best specialist man-markers, something that is needed more than ever in the new game. All year we heard how well he was going in training, yet he didn't get a game at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but the team was crying out for more man-markers, especially in the final

Not convinced by that simply because I've seen him play a couple of hours total club and county in the last four years. Fair enough if he's been guaranteed minutes for coming home but there's lads that have won more matches than he's played minutes in four years.

If McFadden Ferry had been had been put on Paudie Clifford or Gavin White even at halftime in final there could well have been a different result, both of them were let roam the field with the ball for full game a never a hand left on them, wouldn't happen in an under 12 game.

Few interesting results over the weekend. 15 teams won a game in the championship. Came down to a last minute goal from Ardara to save Termons blushes. But they've another chance at Eunans who will probably kick into second gear now.

Glenswilly haven't got going since the first game v glenties and they themselves seem to be stuttering.

Interesting who in the chasing pack can maybe catch Glenties out in KO football and give themselves a chance of reaching a final.

You seem to have a bit of obsession with Naomh Conaill.......

Are they not the most successful team in the past 15 years? The benchmark? So when champer usually starts it's about who can catch them. That's all that I've said. Also I questioned the suspension as it would be interesting to see would Glenties be without another county panelist. I didn't know you couldn't ask a question as I've not seen it reported anywhere so I thought someone on here would know.

Sorry if I've touched the wee nerve!

I just wondered because its the most open Championship in a long time probably because of the new rules. Some interesting matches next weekend and the 4 teams coming through those matches will just have a week turnaround before they have to play a quarter final.
For this reason it's a big advantage to be in the top 4.

A weeks rest yes, but it's a week of training not knowing who you're training for!

Big games surely, will McDaid call the SOS to Murphy! Glenties should get through! Termon and Eunans will be close again! All to do if gallen plays for the other game

From scoring tallies this season and last, there surely needs to be introduction/re-introduction to the county setups for Johnny McGroddy from Downings and Eoghan Martin from Naomh Muire. New rules looks to suit them both and they're both a couple years younger than any of the forwards currently near the playing panel. Could see them thriving in the county set-up when S&C get a hold of them.
