Absolutely. Mulreany played the McKenna cup final with a view to the first league match which he plays as Patton misses it through suspension. I think Patton offers so much from his kickouts that he has to be number one.

Hi WeGoAgain: What will happen if teams just drop off and let Patton go short. If they really fear his long kickouts they will make him redundant.

Yeah I see where you're coming from but I'm not sure if I can see too many teams sitting back and gifting possession, certainly not the stronger teams. At the end of the day, his kickouts are often laser accurate whether mid or long range, he's an excellent shot stopper and from the evidence of the preseason games he's working on his outfield possession. Would you be suggesting dropping him?

Possession is king.

I run the risk of roryboys wrath here but just an FYI for everyone unable to attend on Sunday that TG4 are streaming the Donegal Cork game on their app.

Looking forward to the game. Hopefully the weather will have settled down another bit. Cork will be tough opponents. They showed signs last year that they could be on the way back. With a county of their size there's always bound to be good footballers. It's just a case of getting things right in the background & it appears that they are doing just that.

My guess at Sunday's lineup (unsure of the fitness/injury status of a few like Ban, Langan, McCole..but included them)

1. Mulreanny

2. Curran
3. McCole/MacGiollaBhríde
4. McGettigan

5. Gallagher/Doherty
6. McGonagle
7. Mogan

8. Langan
9. McGee

10. Thompson
11. S O'Donnell
12. McHugh

13. Brennan
14. Gallen
15. McBrearty

It's looking wet for Sunday, hopefully not too windy as that spoils a game the most, if you're going bring the rain gear by the looks of it.

Rory, there are thousands of Donegal people who aren't fortunate enough to live at home due to work, relationships or emigration. Many still have a massive interest and follow the County fortunes. I know people who select certain home games and double up visiting home. They may also have children or partners who follow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Galway or play other sports and they want to follow their interests and parents have to bring them. To say people who don't travel to every game aren't true fans is unfair and unbalanced. The diaspora who left this county are the often the people who are the most generous when the team requires financial assistance.

Agree with some of your points but not all. Of course people can't get to or afford to go to some games. But when people come on here saying they won't go to games because of a manager or style of play then that's what I call fair weather supporters. These people still think there great Donegal supporters. Rant over get out in your droves tomorrow rain never killed anyone.
