No it doesn't really. You win the main competition and then drop rapidly out of that rank after winning it. Says its pretty poor actually. Would you say the same abiut Leitrim football if Leitrim gaels were to get relegated next year...course you wouldn't, you'd say it would show how weak Leitrim football is. alalalalalum (USA) - Posts: 89 - 15/11/2025 19:00:53 2644614 Link 0 |

Lost 5 starters from county final. All from spine of the teams 2 players intercounty players. Lose full back, centre back, 2 midfielders and Centre forward. Lost last 3 games in championship by 1 point in each game.

Yea the winners getting relegated shows how weak the competition is *eye roll*. Definitely doesn't show how cut throat and equal the Roscommon senior football Championship is, which always has been, and always will miles clear of the Leitrim club championship!! If anything it's fairly laughable, that Allen Gaels won every game in Leitrim championship 10 points plus, nevermind the fact there's only 8 teams in Leitrim Senior and 12 in Roscommon. Which makes Strokestown on paper our 13th best, and Allen Gaels Leitrim's 9th best. It's time Leitrim take a look at the underage structures in Roscommon and try to replicate them if they want any chance at improving.

The difference is Roscommon clubs have showed the strength of their club championship by regularly reaching the senior the Intermediate Connacht finals and ultra competitive in those finak, it's the opposite with Leitrim club football and it's not that long ago Leitrim Gaels was playing intermediate football.

Could easily happen when the 3 Jones head back to Fermanagh or decide on another club to win a county title with.

We had 10 senior clubs last year, what difference does that make? You could have 16 senior clubs and it still doesn't make your championship better does it. Quality not quantity my good man

Not really, a look at Roscommon shows more than half the senior titles have been won by one team this century so far!! A one team competition is certainly not a high standard in fairness. In the same period 11 clubs in Leitrim have won senior titles. Which one is more competitive and exciting? alalalalalum (USA) - Posts: 89 - 15/11/2025 23:48:28 2644667 Link 0 |

Handy enough win for a Strokestown side that hadn't to go up the gears. moros (Roscommon) - Posts: 1181 - 16/11/2025 11:28:54 2644703 Link 1 |

You are jumbling up excitement with quality and competitiveness. Excitement does not automatically equate as quality. The Roscommon championship is extremely hard to win and over the last ten years very hard to win back to backs. Although Brigids have been the dominant team they have to work for the titles they do win. Then you have Boyle who probably left at least one final behind them in recent years. Pearses this years defending champions just about got past Oran and Boyle, two games that could have went the other way. It's rare there's ever a hammering dished out in a county final. There is very little between the top teams. And even the next group can take a scalp on their day but probably lack that extra couple of percent the bigger teams have over them with funding and population. Despite Allen Gaels being a decent team, the Roscommon intermediate championship is extremely competitive and very hard to get out of. For the talk of Strokestown scraping their title, they came through a tough championship battle hardened. If the standard in Roscommons intermediate or senior championships was poor there is no way those clubs compete the way they do at provincial and national level. Well ye won't bud. Ros have a least won plenty of Provincial titles, u21 provincial and All Ireland titles, Minor All Ireland titles, Club ALL Irelands. Your so far off the mark it's laughable. Stick to comparisons with yourself and the likes of Fermanagh and Wicklow.
