Replying To Square_B:  "I think it's a decent format and if you had have said to me at the start of year that both Mohill & St Mary's would be in trouble, I'd have looked at you as if you'd 2 heads. I think SOH will do Aughawillan a favour at the weekend and beat St Mary's but I wouldn't be surprised if Aughawillan beat Mohill or if SOH were beaten. It's certainly a better format than 2 groups of four where 3 teams progress even if it still ends up with 6 teams progressing."
I have seen St Marys play challenges in Roscommon and they were impressive but almost too structured and too defensive. I would not rule them out. If Marys win against SOH, they could get momentum. On the other hand If SOH beat St Marys, am I correct in saying it doesnt matter what Aughawilan do v Mohill ? Based on how the table looks, SOH would play Aughawillan and Mohill in Qtr Final (3rd V 6th) and Mohill (if they beat Aughawillan) would probably play Glencar Manor.

Yes you're right; if SOH beat St. Mary's, the other game doesn't matter bar who finishes 5 & 6 (or possibly 4). Manor have a tough game v Leitrim Gaels and don't have a great point difference so who knows what might happen. This sort of jeopardy makes it a bit more interesting at least... the level of jeopardy is limited enough with 8 teams in fairnessm

If manor beat Leitrim and Carrick beat Soh manor are in semi in head to head no team is easily beat up there

Predictions for this weekend

Intermediate
Mary's B v Drumkeerin
Anything other than a big win against a weak Mary's second team would be a big surprise.
Drumkeerin by 10

Dromahair v Gortletteragh
Gortletteragh desperately needs something from this game, but Dromahair will be difficult to beat at home. If Gortletteragh can stop leaking goals, they might nip this.
Gortletteragh by 1

Carrigallen v Bornacoola
Carrigallen had a big win last week and should build on that, especially if Shane Mallon returned to rugby?
Carrigallen by 5

Ballinaglera v Annaduff
Ballinaglera is struggling for form. Even without Darren Cox, Annaduff should be too strong.
Annaduff by 5

Kiltubrid v Allen Gaels
Anything other than a big win for Allen Gaels would be a shock.
Allen Gaels by 9

Junior A
Cloone v Eslin
The bigger pitch might suit Cloone.
Cloone by 3

Manor B v Aughavas
Aughavas by 9

Mohill B v Drumreilly
Mohill could be trying to get some match fitness into their returning players. This could make things difficult for Drumreilly.
Mohill by 2

Melvin Gaels B v Aughnasheelin
Aughnasheelin by 9

A very worrying result for kiltubrid last night. They have shipped 3 big scores so far in this championship. 3 of the 4 relegation spots already occupied … Gortletteragh the biggest surprise of the 3 teams with 0 points. Allen Gaels the team to beat and they've been very impressive throughout the league and now also in championship.

Gortletteragh have been in decline for a few years now. No Jack Heslin and a few abroad has left them with a weakened enough squad. They'll do very well to stay up now. I'd imagine Gortletteragh were never below intermediate before, certainly not in my lifetime, they were a strong senior side for many years , they are doing great work with their pitches but things are at a low ebb on the pitch right now. Allen Gaels look like definite winners although if Annaduff got Darren Cox back i wouldn't completely rule them out.

I was on the County Board years in the days when Tony Mcgowan RIP was Chairman and some wee small fella called Tommy Moran was Secretary!!, (I hope he's not reading this)

After those days its embarrassing that i have to ask how many team's are relegated from the senior championship.

Melvin Gaels are odds on to finish bottom.

I see reference been made about a relegation final.

3 questions

1 How many teams are relegated.

2 Is the team that finishes bottom of the table automatically relegated.

3. Were do you finish in the table to be involved in the relegation final

Hope some of ye call tell me
Cheer

In senior bottom 2 play in a relegation final so 7 vs 8 with 1 going down .
In intermediate bottom 4 teams from 7-10 play in a mini round robin with 3 going down as there re structuring. Idk about junior a

In the senior championship, 1 team is relegated to Intermediate. The two teams that finish the bottom of the group in the senior championship will play in a relegation final. The loser of this final is relegated to Intermediate. At the moment, that would be Melvin Gaels against St Mary's.

3 teams are relegated from Intermediate to Junior this year. The bottom 4 teams in the Intermediate group will play a relegation semi-final (7th v 10th & 8th v 9th). The losers of these semis are relegated. The winners of the relegation semi's play in a relegation final, and the loser of this final is relegated as well.

3 teams in Junior are relegated this year, too.

Thanks again

Personally , I would like to see St Mary's go down , I have been saying it here for a while now that they are not this young up and coming super team . They are easy bet when pressure is against them particularly I find against a team with more off an agricultural grit and determination . The Mary's mindset cannot break there heart down . But anyway best of luck to ballinamore and and aughawillian this weekend , many will be rooting for ye I have no doubt . But as Davy Fitz would say , what would I know . I'm just a small fish

Here we go again , no doubting your blood is blue and white . The Mary's mindset sees very little out past Jamestown . Call me petty if you like but if you expierenced the struggle traditional rural clubs like cloone , eslin and ballinaglera go through to keep their club afloat and wear there jersey . They don't have a conveyor belt of system players coming through

their underage success has been huge over the years but that hasn't really been reflected in their senior success. there always seems to be an undercurrent of disharmony within their ranks which in my opinion has hindered them. perhaps maybe their geographical pick is so huge they haven't the same togetherness as smaller clubs like the willies. i suppose no point being the biggest if you don't turn it into success. but i fancy them to beat SOH who are already through.

Ballinamore are the biggest club in the county, always have been. Until Carrick overtake them in senior titles it'll remain like that. Only another 16 wins to go for yee
