While the optics don't look great nobody knows why MG pulled out. Personally I do rate the man highly for his achievements with Mullinaghta winning a Leinster and Cavan an Ulster Title in both cases absolute rank outsiders. I can't really blame the CB for laying their faith in him to take over after a year as selector as he was the absolute best canditate and let's be realistic beggers can't be choosers. Talk of Colm O Rourke, Declan Bonner and others jetting in taking over would not be good for Leitrim as they are simply not in touch with basement football or Leitrim nor are they local enough either but MG is/was. MG is no fool is well grounded and I never thought he was one to reneage on a deal so whatever happened after his appointment is a mystery to many. Im thankful for old school characters like Colm O Rourke for coming out and giving his version of the story of his dismissal in Meath (right or wrong) if we had more of that we'd have less mysteries and possibly less County boards willing to mess managers around.

Exceptional performance from Glencar/Manor, so well coached. As good a underage team that I've seen. Play football the was it should be played. The no 11 Kelly is going to be some player, others to shine was both midfielders, won all the battles throughout the pitch.

I went to The Willies second team game this year i was fierce impressed by a couple of young lads coming thorough the ranks. Talk of the willies being in bother without Pierce Dolan and Mark Plunkett, but i wouldnt be worried looking at the big man in the middle Joe Linnane seemed to be 18 or 19 and he had some set of hands in the middle. Peter File was insider right corner forward and had a stormer too 2 lovely points and a tidy finish for their second goal. I would be 100% sure on that one!! I'm not convinced on him as it's a big step up to manage an intercounty team. Congrats to Manorhamilton minors on their huge win in Connacht. They played exceptional and played proper outstanding football. They are well coached They had proper kickout calls and proper attacking structure, none of this over and back with the ball just drive straight to the end target. From number 1 to 15 They were outstanding. I also watched Eastern harps minor final earlier in the month, Manor have a very good chance they could go the whole way. I find disgraceful though such a short turn around for manor as they are out again Tuesday and the final will be that Friday. The problem is Leitrim have more talent in the forward line than the backs. Poacher is known for his defensive football. The new rules will not suit his brand of football. I hope I am wrong but this ain't going to be pretty I fear.

Ya Williesboy I was hoping it might be Declan Bonner tbh, I was just going by the names linked to it. Ya I wouldn't be convinced by Poacher either, I would have always classed him as an ultra defensive coach. The appointment doesn't excite me. It looks like one of the main criteria need to be a Leitrim manager is to have a podcast!! It has worked for Andy Moran and Steven Poacher. And as you stated his time with Roscommon or Down under 20s couldn't be classified as successful. I'd have liked to have seen a Leitrim man on the backroom team.
