Replying To Leitrim1234:  "Good to hear the county seniors are putting in a huge effort once again over the winter.

A few new names included in the panel at the current time (with a few more U20s possibly joining later in the year) Jack Flynn, Cathal McHugh, Arek Oberwan, Jack Casey, Niall Walsh

Jack Gilheaney returning to the panel is the biggest boost we have had. I Personally think it could be a game changer. I feel he'll be the perfect foil for Pearce Dolan at Midfield.

That means we will have Ryan O'Rourke, Donal Casey, Jack Gilheany and Jordan Reynolds who all played very little or no football last year for various reasons.

Paul Keaney is fully committed contary to some rumours.

Paddy Maguire, Jack Heslin are definitely gone from ladt years panel along woth ine or two more.

Keith Beirnes participation is unclear at this time for obvious reasons.

Would have loved to have seen Jack Heslin, Shane Moran, Conor Dolan, Fergal McTague, Dean McGovern and David Bruen be involved but for various reasons theyre not on the panel.

I could be missing one or two but from what I hear the panel will be fairly close to something like this.

Really think a squad with this talent should get promoted even if id be very worried about our Wing/Corner Back positions. I hear weve been experimenting at wing back with forwards again. But they need to find a soloution quickly.

Goalkeeper:
Killian Gaffey, Nevin O'Donnell, Darren Maxwell

Defenders:
Conor Reynolds, Mark Diffley, Donal Casey, Cillian McGloin, Mark Plunkett, Adam Reynolds, James Rooney, Shane Quinn, Radek Oberwan, Arek Oberwan, Michael McKiernan,

Midfielders:
Pearce Dolan, Donal Wrynn, Jack Gilheaney, Jack Flynn

Attackers:
Darragh Rooney, Ryan O'Rourke, Jordan Reynolds, Paul Keaney, Evan Sweeney, Aidan Flynn, Barry McNulty, Niall Walsh, Riordan O'Rourke, Cathal McHugh, Jack Casey, Diarmuid Kelleher, Paul Moran, Tom Prior"
Good post

It is good to hear Paul Keaney is back .

Would love to see how Niall Walsh, who had a great few seasons with Moycullen before he got injured, does.

Keith Beirnes participation will make a telling difference. Not available for selection for the year ahead Leitrim will not be able to fill the scoring void he'll leave behind. Without him tactics will have to change and look to hold teams to lower scores.

"I will never ever forget that Holy Saturday night at midnight in Gaelic Park. While I didn't see the penalties, I saw no penalties being taken that night, it was just horrible, horrible. I was just disappointed at everything, and I'm not going to go into the details into what happened and whatever but a lot of things rowed against us

"You would have to think that some of that was deliberate or whatever, it was 'hit the weakest link'. I can safely say that, for myself, I will never be back with any Leitrim team or any team ever in Gaelic Park because of what happened that night. It was so, so disappointing and it took a long time for everybody to get over."

So said Enda Stenson at the recent County Board Convention. Any idea what he's talking about? Sounds like it's not just the defeat that aggravated him but other stuff.

A lot of things may row against you but you still be able to beat a team that has no league campaign or proper pre season. End of.

My belief (and please bear in mind this is only my opinion) is the New York go through the motions against Galway, Mayo, Roscommon. They hold on to and pool the money and then spend big on getting players in for the Leitrim game when it comes around. All their game prep and team selection is on a 5 year cycle when they play us. It's unfair, surely against some rules, definitely unethical. But hey, look they beat us and got their win.

He says it like not every team with limited resources and no chance of winning a game does the same, take your beating and go for a drink after but when you've your best chance in 5 years of winning you take it by the horns, sure there is the tailteann cup but they're the ones travelling across the world playing in unfamiliar surroundings and missing men that can't travel. They laid a trap and caught us in it. Time to move on and learn from it rather than shooting out rubbish to the paper.

Had heard we played Donegal but didn't hear the result or any team news. I also heard we played Cavan and also lost again only heard the result. Good to be getting that quality of practice game tho. Against Div 1/2 opposition. While the game in the Dome next week is immaterial it would be nice to get close to Galway on a fast surface it would show improvement in the S&C. They walked across last year in the same fixture.

Anyone else growing a bit weary of the 50 Miles Campaign, same aul faces and spiel rolled out year after year. You'd get tired of it.

I see that it's not only in football that we have the upper hand on Leitrim:

Connacht Hurling League

New York 4-27 Leitrim 1-14

But don't panic lads. It's only the league!

A little. But in the absence of a massive sponsor we do what we can to keep the show on the road. I am not aware how much Gallagher shirt deal is worth but would be quite confident it is the best we could get, i mean look at us...

Any idea how much the Avantcard naming on Páirc Seán MacD brings in?

Agreed Champotime result isn't important but I'd hope to see some big improvements in the S&C were going into year 3 now progress needs to be showing.

If that's correct, it's good money. No more than the last sponsor, there's nothing in it for them but the pride of having your name on the journey. I think the last deal was 30k per year which was a 10k improvment on the Bush deal.
