Roscommon Gaels manager Frankie Dolan confirmed after the O'Rourke final that Richard Hughes is off to Australia, not sure how long he plans to stay but best of luck to him on his travel.

The senior club championship officially gets underway this Saturday at 5pm in Strokestown where West Roscommon play North Roscommon. The winner of that match will play the the group B runner up one of St Brigids,Pearses,M Glaveys
or St Dominics in the Quarter final and the loser will play the 2nd placed group B team in the last eight.

West Roscommon will contain players from Eire Og,St Croans,Castlerea,Elphin and Ballinameen. North Roscommonteam will include players from St Ronans,Kilmore,Kilglass Gaels,St Michaels,Shannon Gaels and St Barry's.

Group A,B,C will be fierce competitive with two teams from each group reaching the knock out stages. In some recent years we had a bit of shadow boxing at time that won't be the case this case.

Anyone know who's involved with the two regional sides in the senior championship? Anyone to keep an eye out for?

How do those divisional teams work with regards to management and training? Will there be a South Roscommon team for the likes of Aidans, Joes, Creggs and Fuerty?

The relevant Mid and South Clubs may think this concept is beneath them or maybe the hurling is a factor.
A 3rd team (Mid/South) would make it more interesting.

So does that mean there is no Quarter Final draw? 1st in Group A plays 2nd in Group C and vice versa?

So it would be;

A1 vs C2
C1 vs A2
B1 vs Loser of West/North
B2 vs Winner of West/North

Also, what will happen if one of the regional team is in a senior quarter final on the Saturday but players on it have an intermediate/junior quarter final the day after? Couldn't see the Eire Og or Castlerea managers being happy with Conor Cox or Adam McDermott playing a game the day before their quarter final!

A pity. It's the players who are losing out on exposure to top level football and the chance to impress for inter county if they were good enough.

Yes that's the Quarter final line up.

I believe intermediate Quarter finals will be on the week after the senior ones.

@MachaireConnacht the original plan was to have 4 divisional teams with the top two progressing to the last 8. West Roscommon managed by Mick Jordan and North team Peter Bolger in charge.

To think both of these divisional teams have been handed Q/F spots is laughable... both pearses and brigids (presuming thats who finishes 1&2) have both handy routes to a semi final

It is a joke. If they were adamant on doing a divisional system, it should be 4 divisional teams with all 4 in a group like every other county that runs this system. I have no doubt that whatever team finishes 3rd in each group would beat either divisional team. Yet their reward for finishing 3rd in a tough senor championship group means that their season is over. Have a feeling that the quarter finals will be telling and that the divisional system will be scrapped next year.

On a separate note, it should be a very enjoyable championship with 3 very competitive groups.

Hard to look past Brigits and Pearses at the minute, but Boyle should top Group A and will be a threat if they stay injury free. Some dark horses could come under the radar this year (Oran, Ros Gaels, Faithleachs) and might make things interesting if they can get their big players firing early.

It is a joke. There should have been 4 divisional teams in a group of 4 like every other county that runs this system does. I have no doubt in my mind that any team that finishes 3rd in the other 3 groups would beat either of the divisional teams in a play off. Yet their reward for finishing 3rd in a competitive senior championship group is that their season is over. I think after the quarter finals that the system will be scrapped.

On a different note, it should be a very entertaining championship with three competitive groups.

Can't see one of these teams doing what Strokestown did but a favorable draw could see anything happen!

Mid and South could have put in a combined team too but it seems they aren't buying in to the idea.
All the opposition seems to be from Southern and mid people.
Hopefully Boyle or Oran can win the Senior either of whom would make a nice change.

It would be great to see the Murtagh's (Faithleachs) or the Smith's (Boyle) win a county senior championship medal after all their efforts over the years.

Fáithleachs will do well to avoid the drop I'd think.
Boyle have a good chance.

Going to predict Boyle, Gaels, Brigids, Pearses, Clan and Oran to come out of the groups. Though Strokestown are like Monaghan, write them off at your peril!

I would love to see Boyle win senior this year. It would be brilliant for the Smiths. I think they have the players to do it. Another team that I would like to do well is Oran, they potentially play the best football in the county. They should top their group this year. I see Clann coming out of that group too. Brigids and Pearses are prob the two favourites for the county, both are showing very encouraging league form. Congrats to the Gaels on winning the league, but not yet convinced bout them. Boyke to top that group and if western Gaels have everyone fit it could be a toss up between the two faels but you still would fancy Ros Gaels.

Yes draw was done many months ago.

Senior draw

Roscommon champion plays the Sligo winner in the Quarter final with the winner playing the Leitrim champion in the semi final

Intermediate draw

Roscommon champions plays the Sligo champions in the semi final

Junior draw

Roscommon champions plays Galway champions in the Quarter final and the winner will face the Mayo champions in the semi final.

There will also be U17 Connacht championship this year first time since i think 2019, not sure how that will work out for us when having under 16 and under 18 championship. Roscommon v Galway in the semi final of that.

How Seanie OShea got the Sunday GAME NO 11 ahead of Enda Smith is beyond me, appreciate there is alwAys debate but Enda was outstanding every game whereas OShea (fine player) had a very average year .
