It appears Enda will miss the first NFL match next year ,not the first championship match as many thought (myself included)

I see that Roscommon GAA has announced a phased basis for updating the county crest. I take it that this will apply to all new jersies and merchandise goingforward. Its unclear what they intend to do with merchandise currently on sale in sports outlets. Will there be a recall of these garments or a reduced sale price to encourage sales/

Why? Thought rule was that suspension served in same competition.

A hand in the face is indefensible irrespective of a push or s slap especially when the ball is nowhere to be seen. That's probably why there was no appeal

There'll be no appeal especially if it's just the league game ..pick your battles ..

It was a push after getting pushed first. The hand was the top of the shoulder and the Cork lad threw himself to floor like he was punched in the face. It was pure English Premier league like behaviour.

The match report available on-line from the Irish Examiner ( Cork Paper) states the following:

"Cork claimed back the ball and navigated their way through the last few acts of chaos, one of which was the sending off of Roscommon's Enda Smith for HANDBAGS and a Cork OSCAR NOMINATION" (my emphasis)

Roscommon posters should really ignore posts from Eoinog (Sligo) as his frequently comes on the Roscommon thread to stir the **** and get a few digs in, particuarly after a loss. Sad way to live your life.

I don't try and get any digs in. I don't have to. As one of your previous posters said you have to pick your fights and Roscommon co board knew that appealing a decision that both the referee and linesman agreed on was a no brainer.

You need to get your eye sight checked. It was gamesmanship by the Cork lad and he'll probably be embarrassed himself when watching it back.

Took in the Div 1 and 2 league finals today.

Castlerea 0-8 Strokestown 2-4. A game ruined by the awful weather conditions of wind and rain felt more like October than the middle of July. Two 1st half goals in 4 mins the difference and high balls in that probably should have been dealt with better by Castlerea. Scored by Colin Compton and Shane mcGinley, Kevin Finn playing the sweeper role was impressive as was Tim Gibbons marking Adam McDermott. Castlerea had some good performances from Aaron McDermott,Jonathan Hester and Jack Keane.

2nd match in Hyde Park again goals the difference with Roscommon Gaels 2-12 to 0-13 winners against Oran. First O'Rourke cup win for almost 30 years. Richard Hughes top off a good performance with 1-1 both fine scores. Teen Rory Carthy with 0-4. Brian Kelly scored the other goal. Ryan Conlon good moment also including 2 points from play. Lawless and the Walsh brothers among the stand outs for Oran.

Hyde Park with the addition of new electronic scoreboard, long overdue.

Is the new scoreboard replacing the vintage one or is it in addition to it?
I'll miss the old one if it's gone!!

Thanks Analyser. Get to hear some up-to-date reports for those who no longer live in the county.

It's placed in front of the old scoreboard would prefer if it was erected at the graveyard end.

St Michael's won the Div 3 final today 3-9 to 2-8 was unable to attend that match.

At inter county level it's the expected Dublin v Kerry AI final. This year we drew with Dublin in Croke Park and if the ref did his job and awarded that penalty in added time we would have drawn against Kerry in Tralee so we aren't a million miles away from the top two teams.

Fitness and conditioning key for knock out championship football as seen in both semi finals with both Derry and Monaghan whom were out of juice by the 60th minute.

Yep we need a massive upgrade on the FS&C alright.
Also agree that the new scoreboard should be at the ithervend and keep the antique too.
Also great to have the Leagues all finished before the Championships.

With Dublin & Derry both getting promotion, division 1 is going to be ultra competitive next year. Should be very interesting and challenging. It will be interesting to see if Davy and his management team will target the National league, Connacht Championship or the All Ireland series. Their strategy may be partly determined by the draw in Connacht.
I felt that the new linked system worked very well this year but proved that teams with strength in depth have an added advantage.
The strength in depth of both the Dublin and Kerry substitutes and their historical S&C from prolonged championship campaigns made a huge difference this weekend. Hopefully we can get Ultan Harney, Ronan Daly, Cathal Henaghan, Tadgh O' Rourke and some other additional young players all back in good shape and rearing to go!
A lot of teams will feel that they were very close this year (Roscommon, Derry, Armagh, Monaghan, Cork, Kildare, Galway, Mayo, Meath etc) and they will all believe that they can improve another knoch next year so it won't be easy in any competition. Looking forward to it already.

Just saw the Richard Hughes goal on the Roscommon Herald website. Dribbled the ball from the half way line and chipped the goal keeper for a fantastic and unique goal. Have a look at it if you have not seen it.
