great performance and I cant remember last time we won a match in that ground!! I wasnt at the match but listened to whole thing on LMFM, You might be interested to know that those biased commentators gave McNally man of the match !! with the way defences are set up now, the keeper coming up to make the overlap and start the play is now a reality
Anyway Im glad Cassidy has finally found his county kicking boots, we badly need him this year in particular
Anyway we should be turning over Kildare on sat evening, and we need to be aiming for Sam Maguire qualification from league position. I think the first 5 in div 2 are guaranteed this season, crazy but there you go
looking forward to sat night

Well done fermanagh last night, cracking win and a fantastic start to Div 2. Debutant Ross Bogue was very good last night, good start to the league from both goalies. One wee worrying thing is the lack of recognised free taker, hope it doesn't come back to bite us in later rounds.

Great win last night for the lads in green, a very assured performance and a vital 2 points, last years campaign was a big focus on getting a good start and no doubt Donnelly has made strong case that even more important in Division 2.
Some brilliant scores from both the Cullens, McCaffery and Cassidy in the first half, defence was excellent while Ross Bogue made a wonderful debut, good on high ball, very comfortable in possession and a crucial penalty save, even though looked a harsh penalty. Fermanagh played a with pace throughout and hit Kildare with some good counter attacks, especially in second half with Kelm, Largo Ellis pointing and Cassidys goal at a crucial point as Kildare pushed back killed the game.
The shape was excellent and everyone looked comfortable in their roles and cut out various Kildare attacks, who like Meath previous week were slow in transition(standard of Leinster football is worrying if these next 2 teams to Dublin, id expect more from Louth). Thankfully won by 4 as a blatant Kildare point in first half somehow given as a wide!
Kelm was all over the pitch influencing the game as always, Conor McGee had a super game, carrying the and winning breaks, McDade and McGullion were very effective throughout. Team is very young but showing character and confidence which is very encouraging.
As expected Kildare came out stronger second half but Fermanagh weathered storm fairly well and no goal chances were given, though game could have been easier only for 2 missed scoreable frees from Jones and Kelm, from play we were more efficient but certainly think free taking is an area we need to work on as against Donegals,Armaghs need to be nailing them, Lyons might be option when back. Another area is speaking to ref after conceding free, have had frees brought forward the last 2 weeks which has punished us on scoreboardAgain bit slow to use the bench with no subs made until stoppage time, seems to be a reluctance there to put lads on at minute, though fitness is no issue going by energy there still good to freshen up team when opposition pushing back.
Overall a fantastic win going into the break, with 2 weeks before Donegal away, puts us in a good position for what will be toughest game of the campaign but least now not pressure going into this plus time hopefully form Cassidy, Lyons,McMahon and Love be in position to feature in that game from the bench.
Well done lads

Last night's victory for our courageous Fermanagh team was truly impressive-an assured performance that secured crucial two points. Manager, Kieran Donnelly has definitely emphasised the significance of a strong start, particularly as the team get to grips in Division 2.
The first half showcased brilliant scores from the Ronan McCaffery, Sean Cassidy and of course the Cullen twins, Ché and Lee whose defending was not only outstanding but also their opportunistic scoring.
However, my man of the match was our Enniskillen Gaels young Ross Bogue whose goalkeeping debut for the county was remarkable, excelling in high balls, possession, and a crucial penalty save, despite the penalty seeming a bit harsh.
Meanwhile, Fermanagh maintained a speedy pace throughout, executing effective counterattacks in the second half, with Ultán Kelm, Josh Largo Elis, and Sean Cassidy's goal proving pivotal.
The team's shape was excellent, everyone comfortable in their roles, thwarting various Kildare attacks. Fermanagh's youth shone through with character and confidence, a promising sign.
As expected, Kildare came back stronger in the second half, but Fermanagh weathered the storm well, denying any goal chances. The game could have been easier if not for two missed scoreable frees from Garvan Jones and Ultán Kelm. Free taking and post-foul communication either by players of team officials with the referee are areas needing improvement, although, many thought he was overzealous with the black card. On the funny side, at one stage a thought came to mind, that if the spectator macca999 is shown red card for giving off to the referee or his officials, he would have ejection from the stadium, thereby making my Geals colleague's wish come to fruition!
The Fermanagh's youthfulness was evident, but they displayed encouraging character and confidence. While I think management were slow to utilise substitutes, there's a need to freshen up the team when facing opposition pressure.
In summary, a fantastic win before the break, positioning Fermanagh well for the upcoming challenging game with Donegal in two weeks' time. The pressure is off, and with potential contributions from Jonny Cassidy, Ryan Lyons, Conor Love, and James McMahon, from the bench, the outlook is looking positive. For now, a job well done guys!

A good analysis there, but I would have also mentioned Conor McGee who delivered an outstanding performance, controlling somewhat the game making things difficult for the lillywhites securing crucial breaks. Both Joe McDade and Shane McGullion also displayed impressive effectiveness. All in all, a great boost for a relatively young team.

I've counted how many played on both sides, to give a fair equivalence.
In total Monaghan used 21 players against Fermanagh, 14 of those played v Dublin (10 started, and 4 came off the bench.)
In total Fermanagh used 21 players against Monaghan, 14 of those played v Meath (11 started, and 3 came off the bench.)
14 players involved on both sides for the first league game, yet you seem to believe we are "near full strength" and Monaghan are "2nd/3rd string." It doesn't add up, does it? I can break this down to an individual player level, but I'm not sure I want to bore everyone with that, you can look it up yourself if you so wish.

I travel across Donegal in my work and the general thinking by those county supporters there is that our Fermanagh team is in for a hell of a shock in Letterkenny and will be more or less humiliated. Surely, there cannot be that big a gap between the teams otherwise neither would be in division two?

Nobody is taking Fermanagh for granted least of all Jim and the boys I can assure you of that, you may hear the odd ejit saying we will win easy maybe cause they know were you're from and are trying to wind you up a bit but that isn't what the majority of us fans are thinking imo. Fermanagh are going well and we never play well in Letterkenny so if we can manage a win by a point or two I'll be more than happy. Ulster teams and local rivalry are always factors in games like this, forecast looks ok for Sunday from this far out anyway.

My god, the Donegal slobber, Tirchonaill1 is confused as to what day the game is on and that sums up his confused views too! Now to our own slobber, macca999, who never gives McNally any credit noticeable even in his Ferm v Meath waffling followup review. Although, I give credit to Bogue on his amazing debut, I think Donnelly will go for McNally on Saturday due his experience and the tougher encounter that we anticipate. The forecast is given in to be wet and that won't help. Mentioning macca again, just to let him know that it's being shown live on the BBC iPlayer, so that will provide with the the usual opportunity for him to watch from the high stool as he often does but I'll be in Letterkenny being a true follower, as always, of our Fermanagh lads!

Turnhiphead, with the cost of living i dont purchase a season tickets to sit on a high stool as an expensive ornament but dont let the truth obstruct another factless slobber as you like to call it
Donnelly is rotating the keepers so yes would expect McNally back in goals on Saturday, well done to Largo Ellis and Ronan McCaffery, a serious achievement for the lads.
Saturdays encounter will be a huge step up in intensity and quality from first two games but be a good test which will give real idea of where team is currently at. This Donegal team have pace and can mix it with running game and kicking, the battle between Cullen and Gallen be worth a watch in itself. The fact have got 2 good results before it means lads will go in with confidence and maybe less pressure on result which is no bad thing. I know Donegal dont have a great League record in Letterkenny but ive no doubt they be out to change that Saturday plus wont have forgotten our victorious visit in 2018 although be totally different Donegal team we face now.
Id expect that Ultan Kelm will have 2 shadows everywhere he goes, but hopefully likes of Cassidy and Jones can make use of this, frees will need to be at 90% scoring rate to keep in touch. Hopefully the likes of Love and Lyons be able to get on pitch plus good to have James McMahon available again.
Best of luck and hopefully strong turnout of green and white similar to Kildare game.

Yes macca, that's a good logical take on what's ahead in Letterkenny, and I'm hopeful too that young Cassidy maintains his excellent form. We'll rely on accurate freetakers like him and Jones, both from their set positions and in open play. The Cullens, on this occasion, might be better to focus solely on marking this time around. Kelm is likely to attract significant attention from the Donegal side but I believe he is well up for it. If the weather turns out as predicted, a slippery ball could pose challenges for us.
It's satisfying to see you addressing those critical of you; their own football contributions seem limited. Personally, I'm not ashamed to admit I'll be catching the game on my iPad, as I won't make it back in time from my part-time bar job - serving patrons perched on high stools!

What a Donegal folly you are when your best response is to try and deflect from his own stupid matchday error by trying to demean others. Now to my response to macca who continues to express his superiority by citing the luxury he has of being better than the most of us being able to folk out for a season ticket making him more green and whiter than ordinary fans like me. Well, such wealth doesn't wash with most people nor does does his belief that he is a superior game team and after game analyst, who blights this thread causing hurt on occasions to our players and by inference to their families. This man doesn't seem to get it why so many get so annoyed with his utterings on here. Now to tomorrow's game, (Tirchonaill1, that's Saturday by the way). I see our lads stepping up their game to keep Donegal on their toes so to speak and I believe the final outcome being close making us ordinary green and white fans proud of them. Good luck Fermanagh!
