I think the standard has been super high. I know we can always point to individual games but lets start with the premise ( more or less universally undisputed) that football is much better and more enjoyable with the new rules. So based on that 2025 and 2026 are the best ever to date ( or at least in recent decades). My personal view is that 2026 is better than 2025. Dont like looking at specific examples but in 2025 semi kerry and tyrone played out an average enough 1.20 to 0.17 encounter . This year it was sn enthralling 2.25 to 0 27 with some fabulous performances. Throw in 3 massively entertaining provincial finals and many other great games as well. Some year for football...but there is no pleasing some people. Maybe people are struggling to lose the conventional mantra. " hurling is brilliant, football is crap"

Nevin O'Donnell, ex-Leitrim goalie who also plied his trade with/in Cavan and London in his time. Meant to be a highly rated coach as well at 32. You'd wonder what his connection with Moola-cullen is
