Relax good man. Throwing out buzzwords like toxic. I haven't seen anyone in the past number of pages, say any of those players are finished. I have seen comments that McDaid hasn't been near his best form, which is true. At his best he's an incredible player. I've seen people say that they have concerns over Conroy's legs, especially with the increased running in the middle third this year. Again, that's a legitimate concern and I'm sure one that management have planned for. That has nothing to do with his ability as a footballer. Some have also said we need to find the best position for Sean Kelly. He's been a lot more prominent in recent weeks at carrying the ball forward and trying to punch holes. He doesn't even live in New York anymore, he's moved to London. Either way he should come back to the squad in the next week or two before it's too late. Totally agree but a couple of things, he can break the line and there are less defenders now and he's both a 2 point and kick out option. That punt pass from Conroy into Tierney for the goal as it was the exact same against Dublin the week before but he hit the post. Cooke is an option for that move too. FT U17 Galway 0-12 Roscommon 0-15 Galway getting very used to being beaten in Connacht at underage. Been going on for 3 or 4 years now. A serious problem. Their own fault here. They had 3 very good goal chances. Maybe 4. Missed all of them. Don't think Roscommon had one. Missed a clatter of scoreable frees as well especially in the 2nd half. Yes Galway will feel they left that behind them. Roscommon forwards were economical with their chances. We were cleaned out at midfield for much of that match and we'll need to improve there for the Mayo match in The Hyde next Friday. The new rule on bringing the ball forward 50 metres for not handing the ball back after a foul seems over the top. Poor discipline and wasteful effort by the Galway U17s but credit to the rossies they were a big step up from Leitrim last week. Should bounce back with a win against Sligo next weekend. Yes another disappointing result at underage, we are getting into a bit of a habit here! Elephant in the room is no underage provincial title since 2018 and 2020 in respective competitions, not good enough unfortunately. Game tonight came down to a couple of things as mentioned above, accuracy, discipline and a bit of panic setting in. We had great success when we ran at Ros I thought and had some great fielding around the middle but time and time again we hit an awful lot of aimless ball in. In fairness to Roscommon, they looked much more assured on the ball and took some great scores, deserved winners in the end. Obviously needless to say these are very young lads and will learn big time from that, best of luck to them in remainder of competition. Hopefully we can turn it around. ahsure. Been saying it here for a while. The U20 and minor All-Ireland wins in 2020 and 2022 haves glossed over a lot of recent very average or even poor years at underage. No Connacht minor title since 2018. No Connacht U20 title since 2020. Galway have seriously slipped at underage and I don't hear it being addressed much. With the likes of Conroy, Comer and Walsh not having a whole lot of time left playing senior intercounty. It doesn't bode well for replacing them. An allireland minor in 2022 though. I'd happily leave the provincial gong behind at any level, in a year where you're crowned allireand champs in the grade. Galway always produce good underage teams. Nearly favourites every year. Roscommon happy with the win but there is a long long way to go in this competition.
