Club hurling is poor no quality hurlers have come through in last 5 years. The best hurlers in Galway have been on panel since 2015 and before.

It wasn't broken down Into codes. You would imagine the footballers the bringing in the money to pay off the hurling debts. Hopefully the hurling debts will be paid off next year. It was very unfair how the debt was pushed onto the footballers who had things in order

You obviously don't realise that no matter how poor galway hurling is it has massive support the country final and semifinals attracted close on 20000 people many of them neutral you'd be lucky to get that many attendees at the entire galway senior football club championship because football in galway is boring rubbish

Club hurling nationwide has always attracted neutrals from other counties in a way that football doesn't. You'd have people from all over Ireland going down watching Kilkenny county finals. That's the way it has always been as far as I can remember

I haven't seen this year's numbers yet, but I did see last year's. Streaming and gate receipt revenue from club hurling was significantly higher than from football. That has been the case for many years. I'd assume the same will be true of 2024. The senior hurling club championship draws bigger crowds on average than the football equivalent. Likewise for those watching online. It has very little to do with which is better however. As a county we are the most successful in both codes in terms of All-Ireland senior club titles since the turn of the century. It's fair to say we have strong club championships in both football and hurling. Geography is a part of it however. With senior hurling mainly played across a particular part of the county, there are far more local rivalries involved. Fewer in football given the bigger spread of the county with senior club teams. As for the debt, it was due to be cleared by 2026 according to last year's statement. I'm not sure if anything has changed since. Hurling snob or not the truth hurts football is boring some good games? prime example saltill 8 points down to corofin still with 15 behind the ball going over and back

The Hurling club championship does pull a much bigger crowd than the football. I do attend both championships on a regular occasion and I have to say the entertainment value of both this year was the best in a long time. While the quality might have been poor it was entertaining. I don't agree in pulling out one or two poor football games however because there is plenty of poor club hurling games. It's a great game when it's played in top class surfaces and great conditions like the majority of the Intercounty games but club hurling is a different story.

If the hurling board had got their **** together there wouldn't have been the debacle that was Mountain South which every GAA club in the county has to pay a levy for. Even clubs that don't know one end of a hurl from another. Now the hurlers are coming to Loughgreorge, which the football board had the foresight to invest in at the right time. Twas the "hurling people" that forced one of our own out of the county management position when he looked for more funds to coach his team. The same board that opened the cheque book (not their cheque book, but maybe revenue will have something to say about that) to allow a fortune be taken back to Ballyhale. (Galway must have had the most expensive goalkeeping coach last year). Galway hurling loves to get the auld celebrity bainisteoir in from time to time as a quick fix to success in Babs, Loughnane and Henry. Not very successful might I add. If it was broken into two codes long-term, football will be screwed. Getting a 50/50 split on county teams and gate receipts are majority down to hurling.
