I have praised the Corofin management on here recently but I thought they were completely out thought yesterday by another Galway man from the football stronghold of….Portumna. I've never seen Corofin players make so many bad decisions on the ball but that was down to Pearses to be fair. The only bright spots were some of Powers kick outs and Molloy tried very hard. From a Galway point of view would be great to see some other club feature next year. And RIP Noel Tierney, a legend of the sport who won with club and county

Wasn't the best performance 1st half but I did think the ref was blatantly biased in his decision making. 1 clear point disallowed, 2 clear scoreable frees not given in first half. With a fair ref that game would have gone to ET as got to within 3 points before the last goal.
Funny to hear the Galway bay fm lads ask if the ref knew the game was on tg4!
Look realistically over last 2 years this Corofin team have beaten everyone in Galway, but still not performing at connacht level and that's not unique to Corofin since 2021.
When you are looking to see if some club should challenge instead then do it, Corofin not going to roll over so your mythical darling team can have a chance at connacht.

Exactly, and if Corofin had a mythical darling full forward, they wouldn't be playing a 40 year old man up there either.

I dont think it was fair to say that the ref was biased. As in most games a few calls went either way and Corofin got the wrong side of that balancing equation yesterday. Taking the plusses and the minusses it may have been a 1 or 2 point swing against them but to say that with a fair ref the game would have gone to ET is not remotely accurate or a fair reflection on the game, the ref and Padraig Pearses, who were excellent.
Roscommon football is in a good place. Brigids should have won AI last year , and who's to say Pearses wont finish the job this year.
Pearses have come on a pile since 3 years ago when , unlike yesterday, they did avail of the benefit of some very dodgy decisions to win a game that they did not deserve to win.
As regards Corofin, yes they are not as good as they were a few years ago but they are still clearly the best in Galway, and plenty of good younger lads coming through to replace the guys who have served them so well in the past.

No complaints Pearses by far better team seemed hungier & fitter than Corofin. In every game you can always make a case were ref did you wrong but I can admit Corofin were 2nd best throughout which is a pity. Gas hearing people write off various players who have won it all at club level they owe us nothing and for a "ageing team" 2 co titles not to be sniffed at. I do think its not the worst thing from a Intercount point of view & PJ will know this. No winter slog for silke McHugh Molloy Egan also Shane walsh no run with Kilmacud is a postive. I agree it says more about other clubs that Corofin won last 2 county titles and is the standard getting better. SK the biggest dissapointment with "talent" thay have.

They were comprehensively beaten by the better team and Canning in fairness to him got the tactics spot on. Corofin went over and back and kicked it in on top of Daly which was neat and drink to an experienced player like him. Give them a bit of credit. Corofin were worthy champions in Galway and fair play to them, I admire them. The darling thing, I'm a huge admirer of Corofin but time for a bigger club to step up now outside of the few. Killanin or maybe Dunmore for me to improve, I think the others, Claregalway, Annaghdown, James' would have made an impact by now if it was in them.

Your biggest mistake is listening to anything Higgins has to say.

If Corofin got a fortunate or worked early goal like they did in some games in Galway those very same players would be being talked up because of their ability to find a way to win once they established a lead.Where teams are closely matched the first to benefit from a lucky break or mistake most often wins, the effect of the 1st half goal in each of their last 2 games led to a late late 2nd goal in each match. Most teams are more proficient at defending than chasing a deficit so very defining effects can result from little things that give one a lead that may not reflect the balance of play up until that juncture but become game defining from then on. One week ago some were telling all that Corofin were on a march to glory and now the same experts are suggesting they are finished as a force.A bit of good fortune can make a team look great or visa versa.

Not much talk of the Intermediate Final on Saturday. Great game….better entertainment than any Senior game I saw this year. Something is brewing in Caltra….Keane & Naughton as a double act is great to watch. Michael's probably the better team over the two days. Brannigan was unmarkable and Higgins is solid and reliable. The intermediate championship seems to deliver more entertainment than the senior….long May it continue. Great to see quality games week after week in Tuam.

Yea. Surprising lack of chat about these games . 2 great games. I went on the record earlier on in the year saying that Michaels and Oranmore were well ahead of the pack in Intermediate, but Oranmore let me down and you would have to say that the 2 stand out teams were the ones in the final. Caltra showed massive heart they were beaten about 5 times over the 2 games and came back to nearly win it both days.
St Michaels will absolutely hold their own in senior , as they have done before, and in truth they should not have gone down last year. Comfortably holding their Div 1 League status also.
Caltra should be favourites to come up next year, but nothing is given. Maybe Oranmore had just a bad day v Michaels in semi and they have lads ploughing through from u19 /u17. And you never know what the reaction in Caherlistrane will be.

RIP a gentleman. Highly respected and known in Mayo as he lived just across the border. A regular seen at football games in Garrymore and Hollymount.

Michaels probably be down Conall Gallagher,David Cunnane & Frank Daly for the weekend? Galway clubs have some record over Mayo in the intermediate the last five years but Crossmolina be a fair test with Conor Loftus and Jordan Flynn and trained by John Maughan.
