Dont see Jack McCabe or Patrick Egan in the extended squad posted on fb this am. I'd imagine Corofin would be happy enough as they probably need another year of senior club football before being ready to make the jump up.McCabe is probably sightly ahead physically than Egan is at the moment.

Joyce seems to favour guys that were on that U20 team in 2019 that he managed. Oran Burke, Liam Boyle, Liam Costello, Kilcommins, Kirrane, Rory Cunningham and Eoin Mannion all involved"
Is it make a wish foundation, some of them players listed wouldn't make a good club team.

Good to see Antaine O'Laoi back in, its now 5 years since he did ok over a number of games.

Imagine a lot of those names will be cut after the FBD, only 1 or possibly 2 players who played championship last year named in the 26."
All of last years Galway first choice team not even named on the bench or extended panel. So those players are playing a challenge on Saturday or Sunday against who?

Yes plenty of lads on the ballinasloe/caltra setups far more talented and unexposed

I thought it would be experimental but that doesn't even look like a senior panel. Flaherty the only point of interest really.

Playing Meath this weekend followed by a week long collective training in prep for the league. Connacht Gaa will need to move FBD games back outdoors if they want Galway and Mayo to select more regulars.

I think O'Curraoin has a good chance of being involved with the senior championship panel.

Looking forward to seeing us try a load of fresh faces in the Dome. These lads well deserve their shot. The management team are absolutely right to do it this way and they're still being criticised by some here for doing so. Running the same names in the same panel for the FBD would be idiotic, we'd learn nothing. This is the right platform to let these lads have a cut towards nailing down a place in the panel. The day when lads are just entitled to a jersey is thankfully over. There has to be a battle for each and every place in the panel, so hoping to see some bolters really put their hand up tonight.

I see the lad on GF Facebook page just copy and pasted my point about the U20 team of 2019 and posted it. Not the first time this has happened. We'll have to start posting a few porkies and see does he bite. Gary Sice in goal maybe

Above is the link to the Connacht GAA stream, the cost is €10, camera angles are limited and limited replays but good value at the price.

OK so. Playing Meath tomorrow somewhere in the Midlands. Meath are playing Longford this evening in Ashbourne.

Delighted for Rory C, a brilliant finisher at club level and he showed that tonight. He could be the bolter to add scores. I was impressed with O'Currain for the 20's last year at centre forward, 6 scores tonight will help his confidence. I hope PJ goes experimental again next week.

COC looked good tonight, as did Oran Burke. Obviously nothing priced tonight but looked like a decent workout.

Galway beat Leitrim by 4 in the FBD. Thought best for Galway were O'Curraoin, O'Laoi, Power, Kirrane and Varley. Cunningham scored 2 goals off the bench. Oran Burke had a very good game in goal. Replaced Conor Flaherty before kick off.

They did well to be fair. Very fit for players new to this level. I thought Liam Boyle was MOTM, brilliant defender and great pace. We def have a few forwards coming along. O'Curraoin and Power were good and O'Laoi and Liam Costello in the half forward line. Very impressed with the work rate of Jack O'Neill at wing forward, great engine and looks like a county footballer, have seen him play before. Great cameo from Cunningham also. Good for them to have another day out

It was Meath's development / experimental side out tonight vs Longford.

That was a lively game and a good night out in the Dome. Burke was impressive in goals, really only one blunder but very strong and a calm presence there. O'Curraoin, Power looked good upfront. Great strength shown from them too so their physicality is really getting up to the level. O'Laoi, Boyle, Kirrane and Varley impressed. D Flaherty good in spells. Cunningham was cool as a cucumber in front of the goal, seemed to have that extra second of time on the ball, which is a good sign. A lovely finisher. Hope he keeps progressing. On the negative side, a couple of subs were brought on very late and didn't get the chance to do anything notable when others did. Also, the backs let Leitrim repeatedly land scores from play from 25-40m out, almost unchallenged at times. Do we not expect IC forwards to pull the trigger from range? We sat off them far too much for these kinds of shots that just have to be dived on at times. Aggressive, well timed blocking can break a forwards will fairly quickly, something we have to get better at. All in all a great runout for the lads, some good game time and some real potential bolters if they keep up the progression.
