Replying To anotheralias:  "With nice weather forecast and a bit of a buzz about Galway football , hopefully good crowds and good games this weekend. Its not often we get the opportunity to go and watch players who are soon to be All-Stars and All Star nominees in club football in Galway.
Championship is more open this year than for several years. Corofin still favourites but not as overwhelmingly so as previous years as even though they weren't reigning champions last year , people saw 2020 as a temporary blip rather than a signal that Moycullen and Mountbellew had caught up with them. We now know that this is the case , and despite a strong showing from Corofin in the league, there are 3 strong contenders this year with little to choose between them. But are these as far ahead of everyone else as we think. Milltown and Annaghdown both drew with Mountbellew last year. Tuam have ran Moycullen and Corofin very close in recent years. Will the underachieving underage giants of Salthill or Claregalway come of age this year ? Are Killanin slipping back into the pack? And what about the others? For sure we still have a few teams in senior who are making up the numbers in terms of any realistic chance of lifting FF, but I think not as many as recent years.
Lots of permutations and lots to look forward to over the next couple of months."

0-5 for Peter Cooke against An Spideal. Needless to say I imagine they will be doing everything to have him involved with Galway for 2023.

Terrible result for Claregalway, for all the underage success they're still doing relatively nothing in senior championship.
Monivea typically huff and puff nothing else, disaster for Killanin losing to a poor Milltown team..
Moycullen made hard work of the win..
Important all current and aspirying Galway players put in big performances in club championship

Slow start for moycullen. Much improvement needed but 2 points got whixh is all that matters Cooke was top class. Spiddal will be kicking themselves, they just faded away in the 2nd half.

Kilanin in serious bother. Defensively awful. Green gone for the year. Started without psweeny who didn't appear until well into the 2nd half. Lost c sweeny in the first 5 mins looked like his season could be over. Up front still pose a threat but Milltown just strolled past their defenders with ease.

He was peripheral for a lot of the game, but he won possession from the only 2 kickouts sent his way and we got scores from both.
I feel we can get more out of him. He generally plays closer to goal for Mountbellew. The truth is we need him, the likes of Peter Cooke and others all pushing for starting spots. There should serious competition for a lot of positions.
A stronger panel and impact from the bench is key. Kerry whipped off two of their most experienced players at half-time. The likes of Tony Brosnan didn't get a minute in the latter stages of the championship.

It's his first year at this level. He has serious potential. If they can add a little bit of muscle to him without compromising his speed/agility and he continues to gain experience he will be a serious player for us over the next ten years. He has speed, balance, skill, movement and well able to take a score

Patrick Kelly still has a lot to offer Galway. He's still very young. He's some man to nab a couple goals. Probably a better goal scorer than a point scorer.

Cannot figure out Claregalway. They have great facilities. They should be serious contenders for years now but somehow don't. Where do all the young players go out there?

On the topic of the club matches, surely Galway GAA need to be called out for applying a €5 surcharge for people that pay at the gate?

The country went up in arms about the BOI going cashless, as it isolates people, and the great GAA community doing it themselves!!

As I posted recently re claregalway their underage success are based on players from carnmore turloughmore castlegar and claregalway most of these players will concentrate on hurling once they reach eighteen they also lose players to soccer and rugby

Jack O'Connor was ruthless with his changes. Joyce for whatever reason didn't trust his bench throughout the championship. Paul Kelly, Dessie Conneely, Tomo Culhane (not even on the 26 for the last few games) Gallagher, Niall Daly,Eoin Finnerty, Finnian Ó Laoi more than useful players yet only the latter got decent championship game time.

It's a joke. I get encouraging people to buy beforehand and clubs are good at reminding people but not everyone is on social media (Considering how woeful galway gaa social media is they should be aware of this) and not everyone is comfortable buying online and prefer cash.

I did buy mine online so I didn't check the prices but I'm assuming student/oaps get a concession even if they buy on the day and it's only €10?? I know that was the case last year (it may have been less than €10) I remember it was clearly stated they would get a concession last year but couldn't see it this year

You can buy it online up until throw in as far as I'm aware, so even if you decide to go to the game late you can still buy it online. Only people it is having an impact is people who are not capable of buying online themselves. On a positive note it leads to a bulletproof system of seeing where gate receipts are going, which is something we have been crying out for.

I'm not sure as I did the same as you, but they definitely intentionally didnt state anything about concessions on the posts! I would presume they were available.
