Another championship day and another day of destiny for the Galway hurlers. The championship started with such hope but it has fizzled out for the Galway team and I don't think today will be any different. Some of the posts here are laughable. They don't like playing in Thurles and don't like Saturdays. Lol. I never heard such s...te. I think Galway will struggle with Corks running game today. If Daithi is dragged away from the box the goals will start. I'm not confident. Could be a long journey home today. Just don't blame Henry..... It's a collective. If we lose today, the players and management team will take the criticism. They're big enough to do that. We have a squad which is short on quality in some areas. We're very light from the bench. There's always a chance that the majority of our best players perform on the day, in which case I'd give us a very good chance of winning. However, it could just as easily go the other way. Henry knows time is needed to strengthen the squad. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2286 - 18/06/2022 09:10:02 2425691 Link 0 |
Have a feeling today is the day we will see the benefit of Henry in Galway think a big performance on the way.

A lot of people conned into buying terrace tickets and then got stand tickets through the clubs.....how could you bring a child onto the terrace. I can't volunteer my time to coach an underage team without being Garda veted and doing a 3 hour child protection course bit the GAA think that it's OK to sell a ticket for children to stand on a terrace.

Great result , and I think a vital result for the future of this team. We know we are in a rebuild but to lose yesterday after last year and the Leinster Final would be a disaster. We have played in great games and lost so pardon me if Im too worried about the game. We got the win thats all that matters. puckemhard (Galway) - Posts: 234 - 19/06/2022 09:11:59 2425967 Link 0 |
Where did you grow up watching GAA If we're a kid in the 80's or 90's and don't know what it's like to be lined up with a load of other kids squashed in front of a fence at the bottom of a terrace and be delighted to be there, then you didn't grow up a GAA supporter. Kids are fine in a modern terrace. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1316 - 19/06/2022 10:10:06 2425981 Link 0 |

Absolutely, I don't care how we won yesterday once we got the win is what matters! Always expect the unexpected when Galway play in the All Ireland Semi Finals.....remember 2005 against Kilkenny nobody gave us any chance that day! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2548 - 19/06/2022 12:04:01 2426015 Link 0 |

I disagree. In the 1st half Cathal was playing as a extra defender and cleared alot ball. His starting position is corner forward but for majority of games he is playing from our own half. Personally I prefer playing with the traditional 3 man full forward line. I'd like to see C Mannion C Cooney C Whelan in the Full forward line and lash it directly into them bypassing the half forward line. The closer to goal the main men are and the quicker you can feed them with fast direct ball the more dangerous they are. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2548 - 19/06/2022 12:42:53 2426036 Link 1 |
That was the worst I have ever seen Galway play and still winning in a tight game. The half forwards for example won little or no ball in the air or on the ground (Conor Cooney and Cianan Fahy were very poor and I didn't see them win possession once unless I missed something) and we still won. Whelan is still a CuChulainn like lone warrior upfront but what a diamond of a player he is even when outnumbered by several defenders on his back and the ball delivered in is not good most of the time. He should never have been brought to the half forward line in the second half as he is the best inside forward in the country currently. Cathal Mannion and Joseph Cooney showed some of their undoubted class in patches and Eanna Murphy and the fullback line in general were very solid overall. Congrats to David Burke who became Galway's most capped player and what a servant he has been over the years. I think we will have to raise our game by at least 50% to have any chance against Limerick but I suppose if you're not in you can't win as the old saying goes. tommy k (Galway) - Posts: 3470 - 19/06/2022 12:52:39 2426038 Link 1 |
That's it Katser, you tell them like a good woman. You've been right all year, and a Cl-Gal final is still on the cards. You're the foremost authority on all things Galway hurling now. Yes indeed, where is that Tommy K now? And what does he know about hurling anyway. At least, baire knows something about club hurling in Galway; nothing about inter-county stuff, though. Their likes coming on here contradicting yourself, pool and pope; good Galway hurling people, hopefully will stop now. Just came on here to say congrats to Galway on beating Cork and wishing ye the best vs. Limerick, but saw your msg and had to back you up. Hope it'll be a fine game. In 1975, 1979, 2005 and even 1987 Galway were huge underdogs in the semi-final, but still prevailed. There is hope. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2194 - 19/06/2022 14:06:21 2426065 Link 0 |
I thought he was your best forward and I got there early to see your game.

Hardly huge underdogs in 1987 with Galway attempting to reach their third All Ireland Final in a row and their semi final opponents Tipperary having just won their first provincial title for 16 years.
