Yes I agree with that - it looks like Galway will be very flat on Saturday and drop the heads when being ran at by Lehane and co. Galway hurlers don't like playing on Saturdays and in Thurles in particular.

I remember Galway football team going through a decade or more 1987-1997 wondering has it been 'a positive year. Then along comes Donnellan, Joyce, Savage, the Meehans, Clancys, Fahys etc and things got very very positive very very fassshhht in '98. When the Galway hurlers unearth players of the calibre of retired/aging talent like Canning, Harte, Glynn, Callanan, Burke, Coen, McInerney,Cooneys etc, we'll be back assessing how positive the year was. What talent has come through to bolster the 2014-2018 group? Concannon probably the only 'discovery' in 3 seasons 2019-2021, and he's having a modest '22 to date imo, and Morrissey is starting to look like a prospect. In truth, the jury is out on the rest of Galway's new breed, so over half a team of 'established' players still lined out at the recent Leinster Final. We have been hit and miss for as long as i can remember. We seem to produce players that have all the talent in the world but lack decision making under pressure. Lots of wrong options taken at times. Other days we are unplayable. I do think sometimes we over praise players for "super" scores when the reality is they should never be shooting from there and just because they got lucky does not make it right Or a player taking his point when there is a simple overlap for a goal. That is one thing I will say about Cody, he has his teams taking the right option more often than not. Possible because he has gained a ruthless reputation that no one feels safe if they mess about. Not really. Better than last year is about all you could say. When you think back to before the championship the bookies had you up near Waterford as Limericks nearest challengers.

Nobody is asking you to say that they're great. Why would any 'supporter' start calling for a change of manager 3 or 4 days before an All Ireland Quarter Final or saying that they are going to lose? What's the point in that type of negativity before any game not alone an AIQF? I didn't agree with the county board going for an outside manager when the position was vacant but since Shefflin was given the job he has my full support and to be honest I think he has done a good job so far.

Was it unanimous or would a minority of even 40% say they like playing on Saturdays? Very important that you share this info with Henry so that he could pick his team from the 40% who do like playing Saturdays even if they are not regulars, and give the ones who dont like it the day off. Would it make a difference if it was a sunny Saturday rather a cloudy or wet one? Surely there must be a rump too of "dont knows / no opinion" who are neutral about it and dont mind playing on Saturdays even if it wouldn't be their first choice? Those in that category should also come into consideration for selection. Usually there's a couple of ridiculous comments per day on the forum but this surely must get the all time prize. Call yourself a Galway supporter, Mr Kaiser? You should hang your head in shame. Accusing young Galway hurler Cianan Fahy of thuggery is outrageous. Are you the judge, jury and executioner? He has not been found guilty of any offence. He was not even spoken to by the referee. You should offer him an apology but I doubt if you have the decency to do that.

Shall we take it that you won't bother watching it so? Why would the day of the week matter, out of interest? The Galway hurlers would have played on every day of the week during their lives, why would saturday in itself matter, unless they are Jewish and observing the sabbath or something, which appears unlikely.. If ye lose id argue that only Tipp and Waterford would have more disappointing years than Galway. Hasn't been progression for a few years now. A good win against Cork is a must.

A question starting with 'If'. Can't you leave these type of questions until Galway's campaign is finished for this year? I'd love to see Shefflin's and the Galway player's reaction if you were to ask them this question, the day before an AI quarter-final.

Just a trend I have noticed about Galway and Saturdays in Thurles especially down through the years which has generally been losses and / or bad performances. I'm sure you must have noticed that trend yourself unless you're an ostrich with your head stuck in the sand!

What's sticks in my mind is when we're playing Waterford down there…! Last three times have resulted in 3 losses. Cork the last time we played them down there we won I think. What I noticed is that when we developed a good team 2015-2018, that was sniffing right around the top of the pecking order nationwide, we developed a decent record in Thurles. On the other hand, when we fielded sides that were not as close to 'world no 1' status, our record in Thurles was not as good. Unsurprising that I suppose.........!!!!!!!!!!

Fair point but I disagree. BEFORE the hurling year began the expectations for the Galway Hurlers were fairly low. Under Henry they have done better than I expected. Waterford are by far the biggest disappointment this year. With the lads they have they should be the main threat to Limerick. I'll give Tipp a free pass because they're kind of rebuilding. Clare are by far the most pleasant surprise for me. Dublin were a disappointment to me. I hope Antrim keep improving. Wexford are Wexford as they are always capable of the big result. Kilkenny are still dangerous and can never be dismissed. I really hope Galway show up against Cork.
