Saturdays Senior Quarter Final Results Clairnbridge 1-17 Tommy Larkins 1-12 Gort 0-19 Cappataggle 0-18! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2737 - 23/10/2021 17:13:06 2387013Link 1
I saw that result coming and I still would bet against them! Old Gort team who beat a Cappataggle team that are overrated. Clairnbridge are my bet. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2737 - 23/10/2021 17:18:35 2387014Link 1
You're death against us South Galway lads! Great win by Gort. I would have bet against it. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2631 - 23/10/2021 17:28:52 2387018Link 0
Davy and Joe go back a long way and have a lot of glory days behind them with LIT. Also, Davy persuaded Colm Galvin to come back from the States for the Championship a few years back when Galvin wanted a year out. He seems to focus more on the resources at hand at a given time than building for the future. I think for Henry to take the job, he feels he has enough young talent at his disposal to develop Galway into contenders over the next couple of years, and that his old adversary's retirement will not concern him as much. But it would be very interesting to see if they did decide to work together. I hope they do! MiAmigaVERONICA (Clare) - Posts: 325 - 23/10/2021 18:18:06 2387030Link 1
I've predicted all 4 South Galway teams to win, but Gort are definitely the weakest of the 4. Same old story with Cappataggle...lots of chances to win BUT yet again their unreliability comes back to haunt them....that's 6yrs in a row Cappy have lost by one score in the knockout stage of the Championship. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2737 - 23/10/2021 18:30:29 2387033Link 1
| The irregularities were highlighted in 2018 that's 3 years ago.A new treasurer was elected so that is in a different era.The problem is they don't want to get rid of supermacs.Other county sponsorships are talking figures of one million a year, and I doubt very much if he is giving the colour of that. | I would say we would be lucky if he comes back to club hurling next year.Didn't he say it was the same groin he injured in 2019 against Waterford and would need an operation. He didn't look like a man that went under the knife last weekend in Loughrea. | Leave Joe canning alone he has given more than enough blood sweat and tears to galway hurling the supporters will have to find someone new to give out about minor77 (Galway) - Posts: 291 - 23/10/2021 19:33:33 2387043Link 3 |
Good reply. It's hard to judge what Shefflin's plans are, his appointment is such a huge surprise. But I'd say he might gave a quiet word with Joe, to see how the land lies. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2866 - 23/10/2021 20:26:47 2387051Link 1
Personally I'd like to see Joe stay away for a year and recharge his batteries then maybe come back. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2631 - 23/10/2021 20:54:44 2387056Link 0
Would you put your savings or hard earned cash behind a "Brand" that had 1/ Mountain South debacle €2.8 Million plus hundreds of thousands on other associated fees for this project. €100,000 a year repayments to Croke Park who had to take control. 2/ Ticket Sales irregularities, never explained how this happened & again repayments been made to Croke Park. 3/ Gate monies irregularities. 4/ Credit card irregularities, huge sum of monies & no explanations. 5/ Why did Croke Park appoint an official at this time. The problem is that there was no transparency. Without full transparency on the past you can't progress, no matter how much some people want to sweep matters under the carpet. How long before other historic scandals appear & would people be surprised ? moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 23/10/2021 21:50:43 2387067Link 4
No, let Joe retire and get on with his life. He's had too much wear and tear , if he wants to have a pain free middle age he'll stay well away from making a comeback , playing club is enough for him I would say. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 2092 - 23/10/2021 21:53:11 2387070Link 1
I'm sure that Joe is delighted with Henry's appointment. Sure, it opens up a cushy punditry spot on RTE for him. And RTE adore Joe. Even with brother Ollie involved, they'll still bring Joe on board. That's how Joe will be contributing to the 2022 championship. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2392 - 24/10/2021 08:35:31 2387079Link 1
We all know sometimes rumours are true and other times there nonsense but was told Henry is going to be well renumerated for the role, possibly private investment from a benefactor given your appartent financial issues at County board level would ye think if true? bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 24/10/2021 08:59:19 2387087Link 1

Henry got the job. Davy nearly got it. The Galway County Board surely don't have much confidence in Managers in the County itself. Must be very disheartening for people like Lynskey and Hanley. The most successful gaa Managers have been in charge of their native county- Cody in Kilkenny, O'Dwyer in Kerry, Boylan in Meath. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2595 - 24/10/2021 10:23:59 2387099Link 1
