Yes you are right. Murphy has always carried himself very well. That kind of carryon is terrible to see. There are plenty of boxing rings around the county if lads are brave enough to step inside them. Nothing worse than a cowardly dig thrown at someone in the middle of a melee resulting in serious injury. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 06/10/2021 15:31:15 2384629 Link 1 |
QF and relegation draw on after the games on Saturday afternoon I see. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 780 - 07/10/2021 17:44:24 2384800 Link 0 |
Hi peiledoir20: have you studied the table and the points difference of each team especially Glenfin and Sean Mac Cumhaills? Don't rule Glenswilly out, strange things can happen in the Glen

Not really about the Donegal championship but glad to see Langan get recognised with an All-Star nomination. JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1432 - 08/10/2021 12:46:43 2384894 Link 0 |
Agreed. Glenswilly are a proud club with tough players. They will need no extra motivation to give Naomh Conaill a bloody nose and seal their own QF place in the process.

As a team in huge transition and even with Murphy in the engine room, it was always going to take a monumental effort for GS to overcome Glenties. Granted they weren't far away but it is the slip up against St. Nauls that GS will be kicking themselves about. A win or even a draw there would have guaranteed QF spot. Speaking of which, did anyone see the interview with the two St. Nauls players after their game on Saturday? Having read back the reports they were referring to I still can't see what their gripe is?? peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 780 - 11/10/2021 08:32:21 2385179 Link 0 |
I think the gist of their gripe was that the narrative in the media outlets after the match was that Glenswilly had squandered a great chance to get to the quarter finals by not seeing the St. Nauls game out. Thus they then ended up needing a result against Glenties last Saturday... St. Nauls maybe felt a wee bit disrespected in that they never gave in, fought to the final whistle etc & got their goal to win it. They didn't get the credit they felt they deserved & it was all about Glenswilly... Good management by Gallagher & McCready. They probably put in into the players heads that they were disrespected etc, so they went up and pumped Milford then so as to leave noone in any doubt that they were fully deserving of their QF berth and not Glenswilly Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 11/10/2021 15:36:54 2385259 Link 0 |
Eunans must be licking their lips at this stage in the championship. Now don't get me wrong I don't think they will cruise to the final but they must be thinking this is their best chance since 2015. naomh_conaill_4 (Donegal) - Posts: 480 - 12/10/2021 09:07:52 2385306 Link 0 |
St Nauls were kept in the game against glenswilly by some very soft frees in the first half - some bordered on the ridiculous. This was picked up on after the game by print and broadcast media. And also - Glenswilly threw that game away. Samsforthehills (Donegal) - Posts: 1070 - 12/10/2021 09:42:02 2385311 Link 1 |

So a double header in Ballybofey. Has there been an announcement from the GAA that we can return to full capacity or at least above 500? I was of the opinion that there was still a 500 limit and to be honest the NC vs Gweedore game would probably attract that on neutrals alone but maybe I missed that announcement and the limit is now much higher

I'm not sure what the craic is with regard to crowds. It's a bit crazy now that we're at 93% full vaccination rates that bigger numbers are not permitted. We will never get to 100% because u12s probably won't be vaccinated & there is still a cohort of adults who refuse to get it for their own reasons. I might be wrong but I think I remember October 22nd was mentioned as a date when most restrictions would be gone? Maybe TG4 will broadcast the game? Not sure about this weekend coming but.... Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 12/10/2021 15:50:21 2385399 Link 0 |
Dont think they will be on TG4, fairly sure they have already decided what club games they are showing this weekend and it's not Donegal. Will the Co Board be streaming the games anywhere?

Wouldn't rule out aodh ruadh vs Michaels, aodh ruadh don't have any stars and certainly no Michael langan type players but they are very well balanced and have alot of mobility all over the field and will be looking for a fast start. Gaoth dobhair v naomh conaill could go either way, great game for the neutral, could go to extra time/ replay. Eunans and kilcar a shoe in for the semis. totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 905 - 12/10/2021 18:40:31 2385422 Link 0 |
Yeah Aodh Ruadh have come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. Great to see one of the old traditional powers back at the top table. The more competitive our senior championship the better. Look at Tyrone. It's practically impossible for clubs to do back to back wins there. At the moment in Donegal, realistically there is a top 4 closed shop. I think Aodh Ruadh will certainly test St Michaels. But I just think St Michaels have that extra bit of star quality that will prove the difference in a tight game. Well we're getting into the business end of things now. I see the bookies have Kilcar favourites followed by St. Eunans and then Gweedore and then Naomh Conaill. FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 217 - 13/10/2021 10:29:57 2385451 Link 0 |
Heard on Donegal Sports Hub that this game will be on Tg4.

I see all the championship games are all-ticket and the only way to get a ticket is to buy it online. Really bad from the county board, no concessions for pensioners and also charging 5 euro for children. 12 euro for an adult to attend a quarter final is a bit steep at a time when families all over the country are struggling with rising cost of living. A couple with 2 young children will have to fork out 34 euro to watch their club in action this weekend. greenfan (Donegal) - Posts: 449 - 13/10/2021 11:40:19 2385471 Link 0 |
