There are many others out there that are far better, a google search of GAA forums will show you. A lot of old HS posters have gone to them. even some county only forums have a far better layout than this and they wouldn't have the traffic or resources of here. HS is still popular compared to others as it was one of the first and established and that's how it's hanging on.

Agreed. There are plenty that are better. What traffic of actual posters with single accounts do Hoganstand have though? Next month you can count the main page number of posts on two hands. They've 166K likes on their Facebook page but how many of them are even 1 person with just one Facebook account? Why would Hoganstand upgrade their forums and still have the trolls and the multi-account posters dragging down the discussions for others who can respect other people's opinions even if they disagree with them? It can't be doing them any favours with potential advertisers. It'd be like wasting time on money on an old car fixing it up to try and sell it when it's only good for scrap. I think they should close the forums and, if it's viable, start the up later with some type of ID verification so every user has one verified genuine account. Maybe even offer a discount from some advertisers from users or some incentive to prove I'd with an option to untick being spammed.

Not just a Hoganstand forum pages problem though, social media is a free for all mess.

Ah no go away with your adverts. The ruin of many articles etc online.

If some of you lads are so unhappy with the Forum why are you on it? It smacks of friends of mine who waste thousands or tens of thousands changing their car every 2 years when theres nothing wrong with their old one!

You can count number of new threads on one hand yes and posts within those threads on only a few hands as there is only a very small number of core posters and new posters arent being encouraged to join based on the look of the site.
a change about moderation and trolling could happen at the same time. there shouldnt be much trolling considering posts are pre moderated anyway

If you do it right then wheres the problem?
.boards isnt bad. 2 ads. 1 in a banner at the top and another at the side. site isnt ruined by that and theres ads on here already.. just maximize earnings from them...

because the discussion on here is quite different to elsewhere. do you really think the forum wouldnt be improved if you got better features and more modern features.
to go to your car analogy this site is an 80s car. grand but people expect a lot better these days and are used to much better elsewhere

The reason for not too many new threads is that there isnt that much to talk about. There are enough nearly pointless threads of little interest to HS users as it is. Look back over them and there are many with 10 or less posts on every countys forum as well as the National 1.

The adverts are already there if you go to the county homepages or forums...

Exactly. I come back here as it's the oldest and like some of the posters, but no doubt it's dated. His car analogy doesn't stand up, the update over a decade ago was already dated

If you don't like this forum then why are you still on it? it can't be that bad if you are still here.

Like its even small things. if you have been away for a few days and a thread you follow has moved on a few posts you cant just check back a few pages of posts without immediately going to the last post in the thread. you should be able to select what page of thread you look at first from the home page of the forum
there should be sub categories within the main all ireland forum. like competition ideas/formats/hurling talk etc

That username and all their AKAs are here to troll. Ruining the forums.

Im not at all ruining the forum. give over with the hyperbole
I regularly change user name. I for a short while had 2 usernames on go same time but not for some time but there is a lot more than 1 person on this site using multiple log ins at the same time and im far from only person "ruining the forum" if thats whats considered ruining the forum

I thought the important thing was me, you, and all the other posters and our opinions. Not irrelevant adverts or the other rubbish that ruins Ebay, donedeal, newspapers online and loads of other sites. I'm sure everyone on this has been scrolling down a news story and ended up having to read some s###e about life insurance or somesuch because their finger accidentally touched the wrong part of the screen. I dont do social media for a variety of different reasons but that is one of them. This is simple and idiot proof. Which suits me ;-D

Yes but when I'm scrolling down to read your opinion I dont accidentally end up reading about hair regrowth therapy or mortgages.

adverts allow a better forum with better features which allow better discussion.
donedeal is a site about selling. everything is an ad on it. if thats an example youre using to make your point then your argument is null and void.
this site is social media as well. this is one of the most basic websites ive ever seen. surely adding a bit of colour. allowing pictures and videos to be embedded into the page would all be better than what happens now?
