Offaly beat Derry by 21 points yesterday. Absolutely scandalous to do that to another team in a final, they should be ashamed of themselves. I used to cheer for Offaly teams but I'll no longer do so after that....

Tipp got a few 5-28s over the last few years, one was against Offaly and didn't Tipp score 7 goals and a haul of points against Waterford a few years back too..

Offaly beat Wicklow in the semi-final by 38 points, 6-30 to 0-10. If goals were worth 5 points, they would have beaten them by 50 points.
So unless we want to make games even more one-sided, we should leave goals as they are.

Be more in line not to support your county board at the time for letting your team take a hiding like that, that Kilkenny team were awesome and no matter where your from you could only stand back and admire what they did.

Live in the now and forget the past only way to move forward . Offaly are moving well and be great to have them back in Leinster championship in the next 2-3 years as I think it will take them time to reach that level.

Re not supporting county board re those hammerings I am sure you are well aware of the politics of county boards and the "anoraks" in all clubs who will row in behind the county board no matter what, and I can assure you Offaly is the same as every other county wheat comes to change, the wagons are circled and it's a closed shop, I put my head up at a club AGM many years ago and alone I stood..we went years upon years without success as a club after as they circled the wagons and I was the bad guy all of a sudden...thanks but no thanks...Offaly eventually got change but the old guard still stir the pot against the new regime from time to time...keep you fiends close and your enemies closer as they say..

Thats great but most of them are completely irrelevant and possibly should have clarified in the OP but i meant points only. Knew there were loads of games where teams got a load of goals to boost their points totalal.

And as Mick Dunne commentated - Ray Cummins showing "great sportsmanship" palming one over the bar despite an open goal (showing mercy) - might have been that 31st point too - can't remember - wasn't exactly yesterday.

Fair play to you fairplay! Some great history there. Clare hammering Limerick in 1953 is really interesting, as two years later in 1955, Limerick, with Mackey's Greyhounds beat Clare in the Munster Final. Some turn around in fortune! Perhaps, Oldtourman might be able to explain it. Perhaps he was even at it (wink).

And are you sure that 2000 result ,Cork 2-32: Kerry 0-4 was in hurling, not football?

hi yes, that was the game anyway, Cork V Waterford 1982 I remember that clip very well, not sure if it was that game or the following years Munster final between the same teams but the Waterford keeper made some outstanding saves (despite two heavy defeats) and the deficit could have been alot higher imagine, I think the commentator on radio one actuallly gave the Waterford keeper man of the match that day...Curran was the keepers surname...

ah I know, as I pointed out earlier in the thread, that it is a points only topic that was raised. Just others started throwing in over all scores into it, yes points only 41 seems to be the most, if there are more I will root them out...
