Monaghan V Galway

Entertaining match in Clones. Galway a tad lucky to be 3 points up at half time. Obviously I will take that though. Some great points by McCarron and McManus for Monaghan. Galway have scored two goals, and will need to take their points if they are to hang on. And mark McCarron a bit better.

Won't win with 14 on the pitch, is that a new keeper, looks good enough

Not good finish by Gallimh. Have they blown it. I hope not. An awful lot of messing going on by the team. Monaghan played well. Never 5 minutes of extra time though. Almost like officials want a draw. Can Galway do it. A big big ask, my heart says yes, my head says they had their chance, ie 5 points up with 15 minutes to go.

What an entertaining battle, McManus a great warrior, hard to call this now, think Monaghan have the momentum though.

We got what we deserved. Some of the misses by Galway in that 2nd half. Walsh, O'Laoi, but that miss of an open goal by Heaney.....Jesus wept.

Lets be grateful that, even if in a a truncated form, the NFL was completed this year from the point of view of relegations and promotions.
Div 1 should be interesting next year with Kildare joining the top teams [ & Armagh retaining their place] & good luck to both of 'em.

Tough to take but better team won

Great catch by tierney at the end. A promising future ahead

McCarron shouldnt have had room to breathe after the 1st half but yet again we gave it to him. He deserved to be the one to get the winning point, he was excellent throughout yet galway management apparently couldnt see the trouble he was causing us so proceeded to let him go about his business with little obstruction

Scary but our Management seem to be learning as they go along.

Galway blew their chance in normal time.

By Jes Belclare I thought you were dead, haven't seen you on here in a while, hard luck to Galway but I think Monaghan deserved it in the end, great game.

While I fully agree with you I am very happy with the team overall. After getting embarrassed by Kerry they were very competitive in every match against quality opposition. I believe this League campaign will stand to us in the Championship.

Galway were unlucky to have to go to Clones Monaghan to play. There was not 5 minutes of added time either. How much heartbreak can Galway and the West take.

Hard luck Galway, too good for div 2 and
will come straight back up after a tour of the country, big mobile skillful team, would not have been relegated in a normal year.
We were open in defence at times and lucky not to concede at least one more. Today belongs to the older members of the team, Mc Manus, Mc Anespie, Hughes, Ward were emense and Mc Carron proved the difference. Eight years in the top flight now, some going

Shocking refereeing but Monaghan showed great grit. Some sickener for the tribesmen. They could've had it but threw it away.

Actually, a mea culpa of sorts regarding my last post.
Late last year several posters here were making fun of certain Galway members banging on about the importance of finishing the league.
For myself I didn't see the importance of the issue at the time - thinking that running the championship was the more vital issue facing the GAA.
However, upon mature reflection they may have had a point!
