In football its Austin Stacks of Kerry. In hurling its a Kilkenny club. I'm guessing Ballyhale.

Ballyhale Shamrocks have the most with 28.

I'd be surprised if any club has more than Ballyhale Shamrocks.

Congratulations to Limk on a well-deserved nine, this year. It could be 10 next year.

Hopefully, Katser and other posters of her elk, are swimming in the glory.

Stacks? They must be borrowing heavily from the 70's n 80's, whereas (correct) Ballyhale didn't win its first award until 1983 with two Fennelly brothers.

Interesting link, I see Ballymun Kickhams now go joint 2nd in football with their 3 from Friday. It then got me thinking which club football side would have the most senior county medals on the pitch at any one time. So I did some quick "back of a cigarette box" calculations on Stacks and Kickhams using Wiki and Dublin gaa sites so it's by no means definitive and there are far more knowledgeable statisticians and historians than me on this forum.

I figured that if Stacks fielded a team just after that great kerry run came to an end in 86 the most medals they could have fielded was 26. Whereas if/when the six current county players for Ballymun next take to the pitch there'll be 36 medals between them, if so that's some tally, however as I said I'm open to correction on all this.

Maybe someone could do something similar for hurlung.

"have the most senior county medals...I figured that if Stacks fielded a team just after that great kerry run came to an end in 86..." Are you talking about county senior club championship medals, or All-Ireland Dublin medals?

They are indeed forever. In recent times Stacks would only have had Donaghy as an all star i think and Pa Laide in 97.Of course in the 70 s Stacks had Ger and John nó Keefe Ger Power Mikey Sheehy and Corks Dinny Long. In one year (I think 73 or 74) both Stacks men Johnno Keefe and Dinny Long were picked together midfield for all stars but played with seperate counties.

I know that Ballyhale Shamrocks has at least 24 awards, probably more: Henry has 11 alone, and there's loads of Fennelly's with awards, plus a fella called TJ.

James Stephen's have rakes of All-Stars too.

Mick, you're both right and you're both wrong. Denis Long (a Cork man, kicking club around Connolly Park at the time) did win an All-Star in '75 (no Kerry men at MF that year, but plenty afterwards).

That's some record Onion Sac. I know that Austin Stacks have the most all Ireland medals in the country since gaa was founded. I think they have over 90 senior all ireland football medals. The club is based mainly on Rock Street which is known as the street of champions. On the Stacks team of the late 70s early 80s they would have had Mike Sheehy and Ger Power 8 medals each. Johnno Keefe 7(medals) Ger ó Keefe (5medals)John L. McElligott and Denny Long (1 medal each) so they would account for 30 senior all ireland medals.

St. Finbarr's, Cork with 29 All-Stars , (20 in hurling and 9 in football), have the most overall.

Dinny Long also won an all star in 73 midfield with Johnno Keefe. I just googled it. It would be a good pub quiz question. Name two ckubmates that were both midfielders the same year on the all stars but from different counties.

That said, James Stephens who were founded in 1887 would probably have more (I don't have the figures). Outside of Kilkenny, there must be a few old clubs in Cork or Tipp who have plenty of AI medalists.

Ah good man Cockney! For a family the Spillane Pat Mick and Tom have the most with 13 altho the Ó Sé s if they include uncle Paidi have 17.The Ó Se s are also the only 3 brothers to win an all star in the one year.
